YAFF - Yet Another 5 Footer Falcon Build

Just curious - I saw where you said there were going to be options for different cockpit versions, and 3-gear vs 5-gear, etc. Do you have plans to do versions for the headlights vs non-headlights?

I have made allowances for headlights on the front Ferrari panels on the mandibles, the back plate of the inner jaws, and the lower jaw front - with the lower jaw front also having an option for the original ANH (No headlight) version, these have already been done, but maybe not all uploaded yet. (Hope that helps)

Bit of a Build Log for my take on the 5 footer.
Inspired by so many great builds, and waiting to paint my R2, I decided to start another near marriage ending project.

I was originally going to cheat and grab the Gambody one, but its awful just a whole lot of incorrect parts all cobbled together.
So I looked into doing my own 5 footer - this is slightly different in that I will be modelling the entire thing myself based on blueprints, and the larger number of really handy resources/photos of the Studio model out there.
So while it wont be kitbashed, it will be pretty darn close. (Visually at least).

I will FDM the bulk of it, and when I get a resin printer do some of the finer bits.

So without further ado, heres the first 3d model / print - and I am super happy with it.
I should also point out, I am aiming for Minimal supports - none needed for this, or for the one below I am about to start printing.

And heres the next part all modeled and ready to print - this may not appeal to the purists, but its a way for me to brush up on my modelling and printing skills

Looks quite amazing to me!

My printer is chomping at the bit!

Hi All,
A bit of an update - nearly finished these parts, just 2 more bits and I will have the larger panel ready to fit and print, and a few more parts for the smaller one.
Been fun getting back into it after a bit of a break.
My current goal is to finish these, and then finalize a few of the larger parts that make up the upper deck. (The front upper port and starboard parts are about 80% complete.

That looks really fantastic!. Well done!

I know you're not quite finished yet, but on your Matilda section, the little bit of Rocket Launcher should be on a raised up box. Approximate dimensions are 6 x 6 x 35 mm, with the top being slightly smaller to create sloped sides. It also has one end cut off.

Great stuff Dazza:cool::cool:(y)(y):love::love:

So a bit of a test print - I was going to curve the panels with a heat gun, but decided to go with another two options
1 - Just a single curved solid print for Resin Printers - possibly FDMs if you don't mind the layer lines - I will be trying it with a 2mm nozzle soon - and reduced layer height

2 - Split into panels to minimize layer lines, esp on the upper flat surfaces

and side by side
