Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Is it possible to have it converted if I have a 12th Touch Control Sonic? Or does it have to be the 11th one.
What do you mean touch control? the 12th sonic prop also features the same momentary switch that the 11th did. the whole "touch control" bit is only seen in the most recent character options toy if I am not mistaken.

If I included a custom (more accurate) sound chip (acceloromitor may be included). Would you be able to implement that into the conversion? Also, any plans on adding that copper ring on the green core towards the middle?

I see no reason why a custom sound chip would not work. as long as its small enough. As for the copper ring, I do have plans on adding that, when I get around to machining a new master for the core. The new core will consist of 4 parts: 2 resin pieces, the central rod, and the copper ring,. Plans are, as of now, that it will only be available on the deluxe sonics. that however may change.

Well I will have to wait until you have the ring and make anything else as accurate as humanly possible with the sonic. I want it to be absolutely perfect when I place the order :D

Ive got a few improvements that I am considering implementing on the conversions, so stay tuned guys and gals.

What other improvements were you considering?

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Mostly internal stuff for stability. TickTockMan had the idea of using brass brads to simulate the rivets on the copper section so I may offer that.

Not a bad idea, the only problem I see with that is how they would stay on. But I'm sure you will figure that out. Is there any way I could get measurements of the area where the soundchip is held in the converted screwdriver, maybe a pic too. I just want to plan ahead so I can make my soundchip to the best quality possible while still keeping it in an area where it will not be too in the way of any flicking mechanics or other parts.

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

The durability of attaching the brads is the main issue I am concerned about as well. As for the area where the sound chip is located, the chip itself is housed in a cylindrical container 15.8 mm in diameter approximately 65mm long with a wall thickness of .56mm . My conversion was designed so that the chip/battery unit is located away from all the moving parts. I can measure the soundchip this weekend when I get down to the shop. Let me know if you need any further information.

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

All emitter and parts orders have been shipped out as well as all pending screwdrivers. Just to give everyone a heads up, I will be doing a limited run of 11th/12th sonics that will contain a number of cosmetic and internal features unique to the run. More details to follow in the coming weeks.

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Yo, my birthday is in a couple of weeks and I hope to get some cash to add on to my savings - however, would there be any added shipping costs since I'm based in the UK?

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

If you opt for standard shipping, then no. There will be no added shipping cost. If you go for priority shipping then it will be an additional $40.

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

What does it mean by "$430 shipped and $130 down payment required at the time of ordering"?
Also, do you ship to either Korea or China by any chance?

When you order, you can either pay the $430 all at once, or you can pay $130 upfront, and then pay the remaining $300 when the sonic is ready to ship out. and yes, I ship world wide.

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Just spoke with my waterjet guy, he's giving me a discount on my next waterjet order due to the delays from this past December. That being said, the next couple of sonics with deluxe claws will receive a $30 disctount bringing the total price down to $520. I am considering switching to green LED's as the most current sonics use them. If anyone wants a sonic with only the green emitter, they get a $20 discount for a grand total of $500 for a deluxe sonic with a green emitter.

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Thinkgeek is having another sale for the next two days. As such, all completed screwdrivers will receive a $30 discount Secondly, I will be ordering 5 sets of the deluxe claws from my waterjet guy and will be offering them under the discounted price for $520. Once those 5 claws are gone, price goes back up. So essentially there are 2 sales going on. Pricing below is good till Feb 4

standard sonic: $400 shipped
Deluxe sonic (with discounted claws) $490 shipped

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Last few hours for the $30 discount.

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

just wondering how do you buy this?

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

So a bit of an update regarding the emitters, I've mixed up a new dye batch, and personally I think this is the most accurate batch to the most recent sonics. I mentioned earlier that I was planning on using green LED's for those who wish only for the green emitters, so here are the results of the new emitters with the green light. On another note, anyone who is considering ordering a sonic with the deluxe claws, I have 2 sets left for those under the discounted price. The order will be finalized this week with the waterjet cutters. I will have a sonic with the deluxe claws with me at the Gallifrey One convention in Los Angeles this weekend if anyone wants to check it out.

A bit overdue, but here is a quick demonstration of the tension and flick action of the deluxe sonics

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

So I've noticed in the show Smith likes to grab the bottom portion of the sonic and twist it left and right to find a frequency then use the sonic (The first scene that comes to mind where he did that was in Journey to the Center of the TARDIS when they were in the blown up engine room and he used the sonic to find the music), I was wondering if your sonic did that. Also, any updates on the new emitter cores with the copper ring?

Re: Completed 11th / 12th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

As far as I know, the sonic never had a twisty bit at the bottom, it was pretty much mimed by Smith. As far as the copper ring is concerned and new core, I'm still working on that.
