Best Cap shield replicas?

He finally responded when I texted him at the number in one of his emails. Naturally its disconcerting to not receive any responses to inquiries and then suddenly get the message that the shop is no longer open.

I had just placed an order on his esty page then the next day or two went back to that same message "shop is closed". I was a little concerned as well, but I contacted him via his email (shield.labs@mail.com). He refunded my money on the order through etsy and gave me a discount code to order through his shopify website.

He moved to Shopify. Home page

Oh yeah, PropCentralStudio on Etsy.

Are his wares China made and then he finishes them? Pretty good price on that metal Thor Hammer he sells but I wonder about the quality.

I don't know, but that hammer looks a lot like some of the ones that I have seen on flea bay. Search for "The Avengers Thor Hammer 1:1 Full Metal CATTOYS Replica Props Mjolnir Gifts New"

Not to get off topic too much, but which Thor hammer replica is most screen accurate?

King Arts. But needs a little work to make it so

That is if you want a metal version.

Resin / plastic- there actually a lot. The marvel legends is spot on. Again would need work to finish it

I can confirm that the King Arts one is really great, but it had all this weird paint on it to try and make it look antiqued or something which just ruined the metal finish. I wound up scrubbing the whole thing with steel wool and it looks so much better now.

I also ordered a different base because the one it came with was tacky.

I'm pretty close to just buying a King Arts with the intention of stripping off the paint and refinishing it. BUT if a new version by Relicmaker is a possiblity I might hold off.

I knew I remembered seeing someone take measurements of the eFX and King Arts shields somewhere before (and where I originally got my earlier numbers):

http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?t=145712&page=22

(If the link doesn’t take you to the proper page it’s on page 22 of the thread linked above)

In short:

eFX:

Diameter: 24”
Edge thickness: 1/2”
Star disc diameter: 9”

King Arts:

Diameter: 23.5”
Edge thickness: 1/4”
Star disc diameter: 8.5”

If we can trust the Disney store’s dimensions for the masterworks shield including a 24” diameter, then we can likely safely assume that the other dimensions match as well.

Nope.
Owned both the king Arts and the efx at the same time and they were exactly the same- except the handle was longer on the king Arts

Last question about the hammer and then back to the shield I promise lol...

What is the weight of it (King Arts)?

Light.
I have a thread somewhere detailing my mods.
The king Arts is metal. Exact size and screen accuracy BUT it’s hollow- sounds tiny (like the cattoys) and is pretty light (well... for a hammer- it’s heavier than a resin version)
I striped the paint. Chemically weathered it. And filled it with cement.
Fixed all my issues with it

Ahhh yeah that’s it.
It also shows the 2 layers of paint for the gentleman above.

Well what do you know... your youtube video review from this thread... when I first started searching for a metal Mjolnir, yours was the first review I watched way back when and I remember thinking "what a clever fella to fill it with cement to give it weight". And stripping the paint off set it over the top (y). If I should acquire a King Arts hammer, I'm absolutely doing the same.

Does anyone currently own a king arts and an efx shield to show detailed comparison photos?
I got to handle and efx shield last year when a customer sent me one for a repair and repaint. I was actually quite pleased with it and wanted to get one for myself. The only thing I didn't like was how the etched lines in the star were too subtle to show up prominently when photographed (the detail looked fine in person).

The efx shield definitely reminded me of how it looked in Winter Soldier in regards to size and thickness. My customer requested the dirty paintjob from the scene where the winter soldier takes the shield from Cap. It turned out fantastic and I'll have to dig up old photos of it to share.
