The reason I canceled also was after over 3 days there was no apparent movement on the order .I previously mentioned Amazon UK sent me a payment (purchase) decline cause my CC bank rejected my purchase due to their determination that the purchase was possible fraud. Amazon UK said to change my Amazon UK payment method. So I did just that. I changed credit cards. I called my newly added CC customer service and told them to expect a purchase from overseas Amazon UK for said amount and it wasn’t going to be a fraud charge…so don’t decline it.
At no time was I told by Amazon UK’s email that the order for 2 tricorders was canceled or that I needed to cancel it and start all over again.

And as You’s know…they are still on their way….

There are multiple reason to critique a piece after purchase.Far be it from me to have a thought….but upon reflection….critiquing the negatives of the tricorder, once in hand…won’t do anything to change it.
Sure one could waist time and energy bitchin and moaning not liking this that and the other thing. But I highly doubt TWC will say “stop production” while we make these fixes….and then say “everyone who presently has a tricorder, ship it back to us for an updated replacement”. Noooo that won’t happen….they’ll be no tricorder exchange program…it requires to much time, efforts, and surly additional costs by TWC and buyers.
The reality is…those who discover what they don’t like about the tricorder will have to grin and bare what they have in hand …or return the tricorder for a refund (if refundable) at your shipping cost and customs form filling (for non-UKers) etc…hassles.
The only worthwhile negative critiques will be the ones that should include the corrective hacks for fixing what ails them and that suits to ones and others liking.
Sure…your point of view is understandable as well……There are multiple reason to critique a piece after purchase.
One is to provide guidance to the company making the item. Feedback, if fair, can lead to better products in the future.
Two, for those that have not purchased this can give them a better idea what to expect.
Three, while I agree that there is little chance that the product will change during this production cycle, in this particular item, feedback may aid in future software upgrades or even possible design improvements in future years if they ever decide to do a version 2.
To say there is no reason to criticize a piece after production is like stating there is no need to review a film because kits already finished so what’s the point.
I get that. It’s not often that I am a totally happy camper with a licensed mass produced piece.Sure…your point of view is understandable as well……
So here’s one thing I’m not liking other than the Micro SD card slot on the left side of the hood….
see Freely rotating hood
I don’t have a tricorder in hand yet to verify if my assertions are true, but even if they are there’s nothing I’d be able to do….and yet as you assert …it’s feedback for TWC…well that’s nice to know for them. Meanwhile I’m personally not a totally happy camper.
Sure, I’ll keep it because the better parts and functions of the tricorder is to my liking.
So to my own words “those who discover what they don’t like about the tricorder will have to grin and bare what they have in hand” holds true to me…

I understood that they intentionally didn't add a stop because it is seen being used in the series with the screen pointing almost straight up while hanging from the strap off the shoulder. I can't remember what blog post/video I saw that in but Chris mentioned specifically that they wanted to be able to recreate this feature for accuracy. I think he said there is a stop to prevent it from going back too far and damaging the wiring but it swivels further back so as to be able to recreate the "straight up" position.
You can see the detents in the side do provide a stop, it's just a greater range of rotation

I remember this too, not sure where I saw it, one of the blog posts I think.Side note, I also thought I remember reading/seeing that you could turn off the backlight of the moire disc? I swear I remember hearing that but I'm not finding it.
