The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

When I saw the email in my in box I thought it was the invite and was all ready to order one. Alas, it was not to be.

With this pause it looks like it will be "almost" impossible to get one shipped to the US before the new tariffs take effect. If that is the case I will not be buying one for the foreseeable future. I don;t know who to blame for this, well I do but if I say it I will get banned, but I know TWC is trying there best to get these out.

It is what it is. It's a neat item and all but if it ends up being $100+ more I can do without it. I mean seriously I will play with it for about 20 minutes and it will end up in a drawer somewhere like my communicator. Lol

The tariffs may well not stay for much longer anyway--there are rumblings of trade talks. I doubt that de minimis is coming back, but the tariffs could end up being very low, which will help tricorder sales immensely. Maybe 20% when all is said and done would be my guess. And Wand could move manufacturing to Brazil or Vietnam or someplace like that, which would abrogate the whole issue, but that's a long-term solution and not likely to happen with the tricorder.

Had to cancel my order. Needed to change my payment method as I had entered wrong card. Chris replied and said they couldn't do that. Not sure why.

Had to cancel my order. Needed to change my payment method as I had entered wrong card. Chris replied and said they couldn't do that. Not sure why.

I previously mentioned Amazon UK sent me a payment (purchase) decline cause my CC bank rejected my purchase due to their determination that the purchase was possible fraud. Amazon UK said to change my Amazon UK payment method. So I did just that. I changed credit cards. I called my newly added CC customer service and told them to expect a purchase from overseas Amazon UK for said amount and it wasn’t going to be a fraud charge…so don’t decline it.

At no time was I told by Amazon UK’s email that the order for 2 tricorders was canceled or that I needed to cancel it and start all over again.

And as You’s know…they are still on their way….

This entire affair has been a debacle. Wand company has had all fans stockholmed since day one. They handled this horribly. I do like the product, but the geometry of the shells is off the engraving on the discs was unnessecarry.

As has been pointed out many, many times both here and elsewhere, the disk engraving is only on one side, so you can rotate it out of view for the clean look like the prop.

Then…..don’t ……buy……one!

Exactly. I wish I had a dime for everybody who steps on a rake online about this, not just here but on the blog and FB as well. Then I could afford the tariffs on two tricorders!

They face a PANDEMIC that shuts EVERYTHING down!

They face delays in manufacturing because China is in a trade war.

They test the prototypes and realize that some adjustments need to be made to make it PERFECT for us.

They now face tariffs that are out of their control and are doing their best to compensate for it.

All the while BEING TRANSPARENT AND UPFRONT about every issue, every step of the way.

And they DID NOT ask for any type of down payment of ANY KIND!

And still certain people still whine like a bunch of entitled babies.

And frankly, just SHUT UP and go to another thread already.

Mine, for whatever reason, has not updated to dispatched, although it does still say "May 8" expected delivery. My card has also not been charged.
I wonder if I got in at the tail end of the listing going up and down and possibly got my order in when there wasn't any stock left. I'll be curious to see if they eventually cancel it or if it updates, or if I get in on the next wave and my delivery date changes.
Either way is fine with me, I've waited this long, I can wait a few more weeks.

There's probably just a delay in dispatching, and they definitely don't charge your card till they dispatch or they're just about to. If you successfully entered a purchase and you're showing an active order, that likely means you've got one.

I give them kudos for not rushing out the piece but instead working as best they could to get it as right as they could.
