Does anyone have the Vader reference CD?

Ya....basically it's a matter of respecting the wishes of those who took the photos or who have rights to the photos. And it's not like a Vader reference CD hasn't been offered before on RPF....

Perhaps the paint reference schematics could be a topic for a new thread? Seems worthy of one... :).
 
Thanks, Cedric, although how does one deal with a .rar file? What kind of file type is that?

That's a very comprehensive folder system, Thomas. Looks great. Just one question: what folder are the fan-made wearable costumes and still displays listed under? I'm assuming Replica Suits and Replica Armor, but I was just checking to be sure.

By the way, .rar files are just like .zip files and can be opened with a freeware program called WinRar.
 
Yes...replica suits would be still suits....I've not yet decided whether to lump wearable/still.

Hmmm I wonder if that freeware is usable on a Mac computer? (ok I see it here.... http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm hopefully the beta version for OSX will suffice....

BTW...thanks for the serious amount of images....that's going to be a big chunk.

Just a note because this came to mind....there won't be any Vader collectible images, ie: toys, etc. That would be too much and not in tune with the point of the DVD which is to provide a comprehensive reference for Darth Vader himself in 1:1 scale either as original or replica. Although I had to include ships cause they are too cool and we've had so many great images of the Darth Vader TIE fighter and star destroyers in the last couple of years.... B)

For helmets that you own personally do you plan to just use your photos or will you use some from others who have the same helmet?

The reason I ask is because I just got a JB ANH V2 last week and I know you have the master of that helmet and wanted to know if there was any sense of sending you some pics of mine.

All pics have been sent after a little trouble with my personal email account (SMTP server timing out).

I used my Yahoo account and did several submits, I had to due to the size of the files.

I hope they're ok, they're pretty big, it's to the point of where you can zoom in very close and still have a clear pic (kinda like Google Earth, but for Vader :lol )

The folder system looks great, very organized, though, my one concen is how pictures and text is presented on the disk. What are the criteria and will it be presented unbiased in any form? Will all topics be presented or a limited selection - and if so, who decides that selection?

I'm sorry if these are unfair questions. It's just that I remember some of the discussions in here... and I know that bias and preferrence comes from all sides... (not just "the others"). Just wanna make sure that it won't be all just one-sided... that it will actually be the full picture.

Hmm... don't hope I stirred up a bees nest... :confused

Well, I've shown an outline of the folders and I've added many more subfolders since that post. Basically I'm just filling them with the best photos I can get keeping in mind what people would like to see and permissions. When you open a folder, you'll see a collection of jpegs in each one :). Nothing fancy. I'm not sure what you mean by "the full picture" or how it could be one-sided. I'm showing all the fan helmets I can think of, if that's what you are referring to. Maybe you can be more specific?

But to try to clarify what I was asking... seeing as there are huge amounts of information and posts from the RPF concerning Vader, I was just wondering: will all the posts be on there, or will there be some sort of editing of the posts? Is it even possible to add all the topics and since much of the info in said topics are repeated from topic to topic, is it then worthwhile to add all of them.? What I'm basically asking is: will there be some sorting of the topics or will they simply be added "as they are" and who will decide what to add and what not to.?

Also regarding pictures: in the many posts - some of which I have participated in - I have seen some examples of, for instance; bad comparison and reference pictures that show a somewhat distorted view of two or more helmets/armor being paired off or with the real prop or screen caps. TBH: I'm not really a fan of comparison pictures, since they can - intentionally or unintentionally - be composed to make one look better than the other. That being said: I have also seen some very cool and very informative comparison pictures posted...

Seeing this disc being made... I'm just interest in the amount of quality control put into this project... you ARE the owner of several Vader helmet/(armor) Masters... and the thought that crossed my spider-web covered brain was that you might want to fill the disc with info on those... and overshadow all else... :angel

I'm basically just poking a little at you to see where you stand and hope my concerns and ponderings are shamefully unfounded. :p

Why on earth would I edit posts from the threads? :confused And if there are good threads about Vader I will include them.

I don't yet know how many threads there are. Each thread will appear as html pages...thread page 1, thread page 2, etc. in their original form, unedited.

To be honest, there are so many threads I haven't yet decided how to organize them. Probably like: suits, helmets, origins, parts, etc.

If you don't like a comparison, say so in the thread....or don't read the thread ;).
 
I think Thomas has made it clear that we should just submit any pics we have that we would like to contribute, whether he personally owns the helmet or not. If they are better pictures than he has in his library then he will include them instead of his own. This is my interpretation. That about right?
