Does anyone have the Vader reference CD?

If that's what he meant? Ya, basically submit what you think would be a nice contribution if you have nice photos of a particular helmet. I already have photos of all the helmets in my collection, but more are always welcome and that way I can pick the ones of highest quality. There will certainly be dulpicates of things so in that case I'll pick the nicer examples. I like ALL replica Vader helmets. They will all be represented. This isn't about what's the best or what's popular or whatever, it's simply a reference source.

I'm basically just poking a little at you to see where you stand and hope my concerns and ponderings are shamefully unfounded. :p

Why on earth would I edit posts from the threads? :confused And if there are good threads about Vader I will include them.
I don't yet know how many threads there are. Each thread will appear as html pages...thread page 1, thread page 2, etc. in their original form, unedited.
To be honest, there are so many threads I haven't yet decided how to organize them. Probably like: suits, helmets, origins, parts, etc.

Good. My issues has been addressed... appears I have nothing to worry about and that's cool. :thumbsup

If you don't like a comparison, say so in the thread....or don't read the thread ;).

Oh... you know me... I usually do. :p

Fancy. Seems everything has been thought of and under control... looking forward to when these are made available.

EEK... something's wrong with the "quote" system... looks awful. :cry

EDIT: YAY, fixed the quotes. :p

Glad I could address your questions.....ya I get in the same trouble with quotes so I just quote the whole thing and put my answer at the bottom....although I prefer answering after each section...but somehow I always seem to mess it up :confused :p

still WIP.....bigger project organizing the stuff than I initially thought...plus there's always new stuff coming in :)

Yeah, my limited contribution was only the Color Templates and I still can't believe how great they turned out - Cantina_Dude is da bomb.

Got 2½ Vader helmets - all WIP - wouldn't wanna waste space on a reference disc with those, and since the ref disc is most likely fully finished before I finish any of my helmets... then... oh well... ;)

Any new info?

Well I just posted something here in the Vader paint scheme thread. Check it out.

Regards,

MJC.

Speaking of which, I actually got some time this weekend to work on the Vader REF DVD...I'm adding a lot of comparisons I've done over the years and also some enhanced screencaps or parts of screencaps...so that takes a bit more time. I was recently going through an employment change so didn't have the free time I hoped for but it's about 65% done.

Hello, all.

I just saw this thread the other day and have a few minutes to post to it. I coordinated the Vader Reference CD project a few years ago. Their were valuable contributions made under the condition that the CD's be limited only to those involved with the project. It is for this reason that each person receiving a CD received a statement informing them of the importance of not duplicating and passing on the material contained on the CD. If anyone had an issue with this condition, they were asked to bring it to my attention. No one voiced any concerns and consequently, no one who received a CD should have violated this condition.

Naturally, people will tend to do what they do, but as a point of honor, it was fully expected that the conditions sent to each participant in the project were understood and would be honored. Unfortunately, over the years, I have had discussion with others here naming people who were not following this little "honor system".

Out of respect to those contributors who made the request that their material not be further distributed, I respectfully ask that the old Vader Reference CD be allowed to fade away with no further duplication of it or its contents.

It is well past time that a new reference volume be produced and I look forward to the possibility of receiving one myself. You go, SithLord. Just let me know when to sign up. :D

That is a reasonable request.

The old Vader ref. cd contains a lot of publically available stuff though. Do you have an issue with that sort of stuff being used?

If it is publicly available, then how would he hold any rights or ownership over it... or for that matter have any say in it being used or not? Just asking.

I think its just a matter of respect for the work that was put into the previous CD, not a question of rights and/or ownership.

Kudos for an excellent job on that Vader reference CD. If there are any images from the CD that I just do not have from any other source (which I doubt), I'll be sure to ask you about them. Even though I've been asked a few times, I've never made a copy of the CD. I also make a point of not using personal images (I know some of which you are referring to) and a lot of it is outdated (ie: screencaps). Part of the problem is...how do you know the source of an image and for example who did the original scan? Also, there are specific sources I avoid like Hyperpspace, Starwarshelmets.com or people's personal websites...sources I know there is vested interest in. The point of this project is to share images, otherwise I would just host them all on a website.

Oh, I meant no disrespect towards the creator of the former reference disk, nor the work put into it... I was just wondering how the creator of that disc could have any claim to something that has since then been made publicly available. Oh heck... I can't formulate it very well... but seriously... does info and pictures have to be cross-referenced with the old disc, to make sure that none of them is on there before it can be used... or am I not getting what you mean?
