An RPF Open Source 5 ft Millennium Falcon Build/Reference Thread. All Are Welcome

I'm going start a thread over on scifikitbash.com so as to not clog up this thread. This is where we'll do our final checks on the parts maps. Once we all agree a map is finished, the map will be moved to the original thread. This is a temporary forum. The forum can be reached here : SciFiKitBash - Falcon Checkoff list

I've set a simple poll for each thread to vote if it is complete.

Great, okay.

There's are two call outs on 'Port Sidewall Complete' (and its smaller version which we can probably do away with) of #142 Lotus JPS.

Based on measurements, I believe the cross bar is actually part J8 from #143 Yardly McLaren M23. The similar parts from the Lotus are both to short.

thanks

[Edit] - also posted on SciFiKitBash, I didn't realize what thread you meant.

Dang! Now that's some careful sleuthing. Appreciated!

Okay I think I have this figured out. Part 203 from the Payhauler seems to be the only one that matches the Nitto rocket part. If you filled in the back of the part with something you'd then be able to cut it to the correct angle on the other side. Thoughts?

I measured it and found that the top was too wide. Sure, you could sand the sides down so the top was narrower. Maybe that's what they did.

Maybe not how ILM did it, but I scratch built that part from acrylic. I feel I am closer dimensionally (although still not 100% perfect). I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

Ignore the black pipe, that's the McLaren part that just happened to be sitting there.

It's possible.

I know it's not the same heat sink that's used around areas of the X-Wing. That one is much too large and has the wrong vane shapes. I haven't spent any time really looking at the quad cannons yet, but I was under the impression those heat sinks were the same as the ones on the X-Wing?

Was that pit modified for ESB? Because it resembles an MPC X-Wing heat sink.

Hi.

Nope, I've looked at all the gears in the motorized/RC kits (at least the ones I have in my stable). They're too small. The one we are looking for has an outside diameter of ~11mm and 12 teeth.

If you disassemble the transmissions from the Assault Gun or the Hummel, there's a gear in there that's close, but it's still not correct overall. There's a gear in the 1/25 Centurion that is close to the right diameter, but it only has 10 teeth.

The other thing with the part used on the filming model is that it has a bit of a rounded crown to it. I'm not sure why a gear would have that. I'm not sure why a heat sink would have that. That rounded top is really the only thing that makes me think it's a kit part, but I'm not sure.

Millennium Falcon “Cold Case” detectives, still hard at work in the new year. Greatly appreciated by me. Got to love a good mystery if you keep building this thing.

If this were an episode of CSI, I'd be able to just click the 'enhance' button, then be shown a fully 3D rendered hologram of the part, complete with part number, serial number, date of manufacture, name of the person working the machine when it was manufactured, and the weather outside.

I was checking out the top picture in your post and just starting smiling ear-to-ear. It’s fantastic how they just attached random parts, like a rear hub and sway bars from formula one models. Looks like I will following you guys on this quest.

I have a question about the wall of Chieftain Pit. There are several differences when comparing the Bandai Falcon kit with the photo.
How is the correct way to place these parts?
