An RPF Open Source 5 ft Millennium Falcon Build/Reference Thread. All Are Welcome

I will say that the focusing on this seems to be a bit hit or miss. They give you a guide block, but of the two different materials I used, the block didn't focus correctly on either. I had to fine tune the elevation.
Discovered this gentleman's videos years ago. He rebuilt his cheap Chinese laser. He covers every aspect of the laser cutter. If you ever want to know anything about maintenance or adjustment, he's the man. This is the first video I saw. He's replacing the 60 watt tube.

Here's a playlist of his Cheap Chinese Laser series, ; )

I think I only have two or three left to find. And one of them I've never even seen the box for (the Nitto Chieftain), much less have an opportunity to buy it. So might need to rely on getting a casting of whatever parts from that mythical kit are required.
Yeah I’ve been scouring any model kit buy and sell groups to find that same kit. No luck at all. I have had a few scammers try to sell me their kit with supporting pics (which are just stolen from StudioKitbash’s research thread)

Yep, I've had that too. Back when I was looking for a Sealab kit I had a couple of people on Facebook message me and tell me they had one they'd let me have for $75. Which in of itself was a red flag, but when I asked for photo proof, they literally showed me the photos that I'd posted in another group. They get pretty surly when you call them out on it.

I try not to let the downside that the internet permits thieves to invade even specialized hobby websites like RPF. Some day there may be some controls to electronically squash them regarding intentional scams. For now, them being surly makes me smile.

Quick question for the Brains trust here. It may have been answered elsewhere but I haven't seen it.
The highlighted green section - was that added for ESB, and not in the ANH model? It looks like it may have been added to cover the hole they put in for the Lights, which were added to the ESB version. (Think I just answered my own question here)

The Bandai PG kit, doesn't seem to have these?

I'm just curious as I am doing both versions - and if it is ESB, does anyone know what the circled bit is in the above photo?

Nearly there ;)

I'm not sure if this has been answered or not so apologies if it has but the green part on top appears to be from the (most likely) Tamiya 1/35 20mm Flakvierling 38 which wasn't released until 1977 so that puts the timeline after Star Wars and about right for Empire.

To celebrate scifikitbash.com's second birthday today, I have added a section for trading parts. I hope this will be a place where fellow members can find those missing parts, or casts of parts they need to finish their builds. This is for trading only. THERE IS NO SELLING OF PARTS ALLOWED. When money comes into play, my job gets tougher.

There is also a subforum for member feedback.

We'll see how this goes. If it works great! If not, I'll pull it down.

Thanks,
John

I hope so. I just got an Aurora New Jersey for $15. Unfortunately the only piece missing is one I need.
Is the Aurora Iowa the same tooling as the New Jersey, and if so which parts are needed for the Falcon. I know it is the sister ship to Iowa and Missouri. I have the '72 year Iowa for the Galactica build, and wonder if it was used on anything else.

Hi bwayne, don't now about tooling and kit similarities. As far as I know none of the above are used on the Falcon, the only 1/600 Aurora ship I know of is the Graf Spee. I've read the New Jersey is used on the SD, so if you want to go for that ... ;)

Others might know better!

I would imagine it's the same tooling, but don't know that for a fact.
I got the New Jersey for a future Star Destroyer build.

Oh ok. That's good to know. Is that the 4 footer or the 8 foot. I know the 8 footer has a ton of ship parts all over it.

...and I thought nobody is looking at those anymore! Happy to hear people at least try, lol

If you 'just' want to see the kit list have a look at John's in the first post here! I just extend on that.
I compressed the parts document to a PDF file below 10MB, quality drops a bit, but at least it is handlable now:
The spreadsheet should work, it is below 1MB, or are you also having trouble there?

Yea I managed to finally get it. I don't think Google likes me. The feeling is mutual, ; ) Oh I come around to these threads pretty often. I'm a map and Info junkie. I may never finish a studio model, but I'll have all the info anyway, lol. Don't think my family will be able to decipher all this stuff when I'm gone. It will all be Greek to them, ; )

Updated this guy with the added M8 piece. (#181)
