YAFF - Yet Another 5 Footer Falcon Build

Thanks Dave, exactly what I was going to say - I have made the inserts swappable so you can flip them over to however you prefer.

And on a side note, my New printer has arrived, so am reprinting the mandibles. Still need to fix my old printer, and explain to my wife why I now have 2, but that's a different story.

Cheers D

fantastic news .have you finished the redesign already Daz ? this will be the first night my printer will not be running overnight in 8 weeks...
The redesign of the mandibles is finished, just printing off the port mandibles first before I put them live, will give you something new to print anyway. pretty much everything on the mandibles is redone to fix the size issue - so will be new Mandible frame, new Pits, new sidewalls and new deck plates. (Apologies to everyone who had already printed them - (I've done each part about 5 times now ;) - that's the joy of working alongside me unfortunately)
Once that's done Ill shift onto the starboard prints.
I made a few other minor tweaks to fix some bits I wasn't happy with while I went. Should be up this week sometime anyway - hoping to get the remaining 2 sidewalls printed today, the rest is done.

I just did a quick rough count up, 16 for the turret mounts, + 4 for the Gun Connector bits, 4 for the front Mandible Ferrari parts, 4 for the rear inner panel, 6 upper Mandible Add ons. 20 for upper engine deck, 20 for lower engine deck, 8 for Mandible Deck Connectors, 8 for the jaw connectors, 8 for the docking rings, 6 for the rear cockpit connectors, 4 for connecting the Cockpit Canopy + about another 20 or so for sundries, so about 130 or so so far - so yeah might pay to stock up on them - I do like my magnets ;)

OK- the new mandible frame is up - quite a few changes as outlined below

V4 - Updates

1 - Adding in built cable tidy in the front mandible parts, for the LED mounting.
2 - Making the hole where the LEDs are inserted larger, in case you need to hook the wire back through at some stage
3 - Adding slight bevels to the parts where the Aluminum goes through, should make it easier to slot on
4 - Added a locking part to the section that Connects MP1 and MP1.5 and the other side - as these parts are not recommended to be glued - so holds it in the correct position with 1 bolt.
5 - Added mag mounts for the inner jaw back, and the decks as well
6 - Widened some of the edges to give a bit more glue contact area.
7 - Added more support structures where the deck panels are joined - so they all have a base to sit on at the joining edges (Rather than floating as in the original design)

Will be uploading the modified pits, sidewalls and deck panels next.

i didn't know you had released more files...edit i have the files now...wish i had 2 printers.....

Looking forward to seeing more and getting my mitts on the step files. All top drawer stuff! This stuff must drive you mad. I know it did that to me when I was making in Rhino. I`m edging towards getting a Bambu rather than one of the larger format bed printers. I`m holding back a bit longer before I pull the proverbial trigger!

i saw a printer yesterday with a build volume of 800 x 800 x 1000 at my local shop
Nice, just be wary some of the bigger printers don't print as good a quality results and require a lot of setup. The bambu does work pretty well out of the box - and the P1S has dropped in price (Tho tariffs may effect some of you) - I got my new one for about 600USD, 200USD cheaper than it was before they released the H2D. I would say you probably dont need the AMS unless you really want it, my new ones not using it and no issues.

Dazza....hope this message finds you well (and enjoying assebly Falcon....I m having a lot of fun) I m sorry to bug you again with this request.... if by the chance to share the ungrouped version for the inner docking ports...tks
