Yes, and the movie version has a rim edge ring that the original time period piece does not.

Had it not had the extra ring it would be a simple cast and die process with removal of the stars but with the extra ring it needs further sculpting which on that detail would need to be extremely precise. It would be obvious if the groove deviated even just a little.

Cast them then etch the groove in

I would say they are pretty dang close. I know a real US Marshal badge is 2 1/4 inches in diameter and I would say this badge should be the same
