The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

I just did it on mine. Took 4 minutes to do both sides. Super easy. The plastic is very rigid but flexible in that it won't snap or break and will hold the bend. Once you handle the piece you'll see what I mean. It doesn't make the clicks any louder but they are firmer. I could already push the buttons (somewhat) without it moving but now it's very solid. it's a good fix.

Just make sure you have both the back panel AND the bottom tray open before sliding the side panels down. There are grooves that prevent them from moving if those two panels are closed.

I don't understand why so many are fussing about this hinge/hood thing...
Agreed. It's not that big of a deal. I think they wanted to be able to push the buttons and not have it move on them, which I can understand. I just hold it with my other fingers. But at the same time, I just tightened mine and I do actually like it better. The detent clicks are more satisfying and it holds it's place while pushing the buttons.

When I got mine the hood resistance was my only gripe.
After having it for 2 weeks I can say it's really not a big deal at all.
You get used to it really fast.
It's nice to have an easy fix, but at this point I'm going to leave it as it is.

I personally don't have a problem with it but I'm not constantly opening and closing either.
Mine is permanently in this display .

I have one Tricoder, for now,, two Phasers, including a B&W conversion and three Communicater including a Beta conversion. It seems you just can't have one of any of them.
I agree. Can n ever have too many . Forgot I also have a Bluetooth modified DST one that works just like the Wand Communicator .

One comment about the strap. Someone else mentioned theirs was showing a crease. As long as you always keep the strap going "up" and out of the side panel you will not have a problem. As soon as you allow the strap to go "down" along the side panel toward the bottom - a crease will appear. It only took ONE downward drape to crease my strap on both sides. It was in that position for about five minutes while it lay on its back and I examined the unit. I wish someone had made this observation earlier. I have removed the strap in anticipation of replacing it with a leather version - but I would have liked to have had an unmarred original as well.

How permanent is permanent…..did you remove the batteries for preservation purposes?

From the Goooo……..

“Should lithium batteries be removed when not in use?

Remove and Charge the Battery

This precaution helps prevent unnecessary battery drain, as even in an "off" state, the battery can slowly discharge, which may accelerate wear and reduce overall lifespan. Before long-term storage (3-6 months or more), charge the battery to between 60-80% capacity.”

Haha. Very nice. Never got the phaser. I felt that DST was good enough for me at the time. Still kinda do. Just happy I have three nice examples of the three major TOS standard gear... :)...
I do believe they used the DST phaser in ST: Enterprise in a mirror darkly two parter. So it's an exact replica of a screen used prop. ;)
