If you guys in the US don't mind me asking, the link they sent you to order, was it from Amazon US or Amazon UK. It would be interesting to know so those of us waiting in the City on the Edge of Forever can know and be on the lookout.

Amazon UK. it was for the original batch of 200. Some of those made it out, some of them got declined as fraudulent, some shipped but got turned away at customs. Then they stopped dispatching to the US altogether. Mine in particular got declined so I submitted a new card, but then the order just sat in "Waiting to dispatch" until today (since april 23) and it looks like they finally released it since getting more stock in and/or the trade fiasco being put on a 90 day hold. But as far as I understand, no new US orders are being accepted by AmazonUK

TWC is shipping the next few batches to the US during that window so they can sell from AmazonUS. so I would assume that's where any future links will point to.

WHOA!! my delivery date to Texas just got bumped from next Tuesday the 20th to the day after tomorrow, Friday the 16th according to DHL.
Kind of hard to believe, but I'll take it!

Catastrophe! Received my tricorder - really lovely bit of kit - but one of the disc holders is broken out-of-the-box and the disc won't click in/door won't close I've dropped them a message via their website and will see what happens next. Otherwise looks and feels great/solid. Gutted!

oh no! Looks like you're in the UK so you're definitely in luck! I've seen a couple of fb posts where they're already being super responsive to replacements and pulling them out of the warehouse to immediately swap out. I'll bet it's not going to be too long before you get a replacement.

Can you tell if maybe something is lodged in the mechanism that could free it up?

Yep in the UK so hopefully that'll make it easier as they're based here as well. I've heard their support is good. Had a good look and can't find anything obvious blocking the mechanism. I think there must be a tab or something inside that's broken off. I'm sure I've just been unlucky as the it seems really well built. Makes me feel like a kid again!

Hmmm.

It's a 4 hour drive to a Canadian hotel just across the boarder for me. I could get the tricorder delivered there and get some
Vermont maple syrup along the way.

The cost between Canadian delivery and Amazon US delivery is about the same. I think about $15 more for the Canadian.
But there is 20 gallons of gas and the hotel ( about $100).

I'll probably wait for Amazon US to get them, but it's nice to have options.

They have outstanding customer service. I wouldn't be surprised if you hear back within a day with a solution.

Which disc slot is it? not the far right one that does the reading is it?

No, it’s the first one on the left. All the others are fine and it can read the discs. In the first slot the disc slides in and can be pushed down but nothing catches to hold it in, so the sits proud and the door won’t close.

On an English ghost hunting show “Most Haunted“ from the early 2000’s one of the paranormal investigators would use the Vital Technologies TR-107 Tricorder’s EMF sensor to detect for ghosts. I can’t wait to see the new Wand Company’s Tricorder show up on one of the current ghost hunting shows being used with its EMF sensor to hunt for ghosts.

Who knows... I have seen plenty of cases where amazon workers swap out items for other things and keep them for themselves. I've received empty boxes or other cheap items from what I ordered before. Amazon is usually good about making it right with not too much trouble.
But yeah, you can't trust anything on that group. Could be just looking for a free replacement.

Seems like a scam for someone to get a second Tricorder for free.
If only TWC kept a record of which Tricorders were sent to specific buyers they could route out fraud should the same person sell that Tricorder on eBay.
Way too much admin involved so it will never happen.
That person would have known straight away when they received the package if it was light and something was rattling around unsecured. In a case like that I would film the unboxing as genuine proof.

Another lucky UK-er here, spending a happy afternoon playing with my new toy! I was able to purchase from the email invite before the recent batch upload sold out. My original Certificate of Interest registration number was 81353, by the way, if that helps anyone predict when their invitation is likely to happen.

It's a beautiful piece of kit and well worth the wait. I honestly think that The Wand Company have knocked it out of the park in terms of quality, and how they've dealt with a series of setbacks and problems that are none of their fault. Kudos to Chris and everyone else there.

I really hope everyone in the US and elsewhere get theirs soon, and are as happy with it as I am.
