Definitely not kidding. He goes on to talk about how his year has not gone very well with the death of a couple of family members. He's in the UK and there is warehouse stock at Amazon, so it's not unheard of to get overnight shipping. It's possible someone opened the package and took out the tricorder but it wouldn't surprise me that he's publicly protesting as evidence, and is just trying to get a free second one or a refund. Definitely suspicious but not completely unheard of.

Another lucky UK-er here, spending a happy afternoon playing with my new toy! I was able to purchase from the email invite before the recent batch upload sold out. My original Certificate of Interest registration number was 81353, by the way, if that helps anyone predict when their invitation is likely to happen.

It's a beautiful piece of kit and well worth the wait. I honestly think that The Wand Company have knocked it out of the park in terms of quality, and how they've dealt with a series of setbacks and problems that are none of their fault. Kudos to Chris and everyone else there.

I really hope everyone in the US and elsewhere get theirs soon, and are as happy with it as I am.

Once you get your TWC exploration sets together finally, I cannot stress how important it is for everyone to chant creepily "star trek, star trek, star trek" over and over like the MEGO commercials I have decided.

I was watching Companion--fantastic movie, I highly recommend it.

My scanner got as far as the local distribution center (Dulles), then delivery changed to tomorrow.

I'm kinda bummed, but it did give me a chance to work on the Jock Handee videos (yes, there are more coming) and my... I don't quite know what to call it. It's sort of an unboxing fan film.

Anyway, I think that one will be ready by this weekend. I discovered DaVinci's AI color correction tools, and suddenly hours of keyframing drudgery turned into clicking on a button.

I'm betting there will be a lot of happy faces similar to Bashir's when those Medical Scanners arrive to pair with the Wand Company Tricorder.
If I didn't have an expensive year ahead I would pick up a Medical Scanner. Hopefully they are still available next year.

I asked over at the tricorder blog about timing of getting the trics to the US.
Here is the response:

"Expect at least a couple of weeks may be a bit longer. We have some stock rolling off the production lines right now that we will be shipping to the US."

So not until early/mid June.

That sounds a bit different than what Chris said in the last newsletter. Maybe I read it wrong but I thought he said they were sending the next shipments to the US not that they still needed to be manufactured and then shipped.

I will say this, as soon as I hear people in the US have received invites I'm going to Amazon US and buying one even if I haven't gotten an invite and hopefully I will have my med scanner to go with it by then.

According the the email I got from them, they are nearing the end of the run. The scanners they are putting out were built in 2008 but they could not source anymore electronics for them so they sat in a warehouse until recently when they put in completely new electronics.

They are being put out by a group called Trek Classic at a price of $350. I emailed them at trekclassic@hotmail.com but I've been told they are also on ebay.
