The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

That sounds like a good idea but I would be a bit hesitant to get a battery with a different mAh. I did that with my old cell phone and the higher capacity batteries never really worked well and seemed to loose their charge quicker than the stock battery.
Wow, that's weird. Exactly the opposite of what you'd expect.

I know. It could have been defective batteries but as soon as I went back to the specific batteries made for my phone everything was okay. Frankly I think it most likely it was either the batteries I bought or the phone would just not work with non-stock batteries, which wouldn't surprise me at all.

Assuming it was actually a failure and not just seated improperly. Personally, I'm planning on laying in some extra 18650 button tops with a charger as backups. They have some on Amazon that look OK, and Andrew Stockdale says 3.6V or 3.7V will do. They also have higher mAh values than the stock battery, so you can get longer life between charges.

I’m not certain what happened.

I know that once I opened the back door and removed the battery, and popped it back in, I was able to power-up the Tricorder without issue and the status shows it as fully charged.

Who knows?

It was just announced yesterday the tariff deal made between China and the US. Those lower tariffs don’t go into effect until tomorrow. Keep in mind TWC has no control over when Amazon UK decides to open up their listings to US shipping again, so that’s likely the “logistics” Chris was referring to they had to address. They're probably in talks with them to see when that can happen for their customers who are eagerly waiting for this.
On Amazon UK there are several items listed that can ship immediately to the States . So Chris's reply doesn't fly ????

So My Order that was declined way back in the first round tried to charge again today - Looks like AMEX declined it again (Thank you guys for protecting me so vigourously!) So after a morning on the phone I’m just cancelling this ghost order thats been sitting in my orders page for weeks. I’ll try again when it opens up.

From Wand's latest update, in just now, so maybe certain people can finally STFU:

What does the reduced tariff on bulk imports mean to me?

If you live in the US, quite a lot. The 145% tariff on goods manufactured in China imported to the US has been temporarily reduced to 30%. This means we can start shipping in bulk to the US immediately and, as soon as we are able, make the product available to our US customers through Amazon US.

If I live in the US, can I still buy the Tricorder from Amazon UK?

No, at the moment none of our products are available for US customers from our Amazon UK listing. While the de minimis tariffs for shipments under $800 in value has reduced to 54%, Amazon UK has currently paused shipments to the US. Due to the fact that it will not be possible for Amazon UK to ship our products to the US, when we send out our next “invite to purchase” email, we will not be sending it out to any of our US customers.

Sounds like they're working out logistics issues, doesn't it?

Also from Wand's latest update (sent just 15 minutes ago), answering other important questions some folks will undoubtedly have:

I live in the US – will I actually ever be able to buy a Tricorder?

YES. We will be diverting the next few shipments to the US and we believe that there will be enough Tricorders for everyone that wants one to buy one. All our customers are important to us and we are doing our best to ensure that everyone gets their chance to purchase a Tricorder at the best price we can offer.

With the reduced tariff how much will my Tricorder cost?

The margins we have on the Tricorder manufacture are already thin and so we are not able to absorb the entire cost of the 30% tariff. As a result the cost of the Tricorders in the US will rise to $415.

$415 is not at all bad, considering it would've been possibly twice that with the 145% tariffs! With shipping and local sales tax, that's still less than $100 increase, so still within budget for most people. And that will definitely kill off the four-figure scalping on eBay.

No, not bad at all considering what the price could've been, lol. Me being in Canada, I have the option of still buying through Amazon UK so I can avoid the slight uptick in price. Since they state sending out “invite to buy” e-mails to non-US registrants sometime later today, and I was among the first 1900 people to register on 07/20/20 I wonder if that means I might finally receive that e-mail?

Should be soon--they've already sold tricorders to the better part of 200 people on that list, and I think they'll send a lot of stock over here while they've got the opportunity.

Well.....

Read the email and there is some interesting info.

" As you can imagine, companies worldwide have had their shipments on hold since the tariffs were increased and are now all going to want to ship to the US at the same time. We will do our best to start airfreighting Tricorders to the US as soon as possible. "

Not hopeful that it will happen anytime soon. There are literally millions of tons of stuff waiting to ship to the US. They are a very small part of that.
Then they need to be offloaded in the US and clear customs. We only KNOW there is a 90 day reprieve, after that who knows.
