The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

Nice, Roger got back to me within just a few minutes and had a tracking number for me about a week later.
Ah--that explains why it's taking so long for me to get a tracking number. I have a feeling they're assembling them as orders come in, so they can't just put a box together and shove it out the door the same day. Roger tells me he'll try to get mine shipped by Monday, but now that I see everyone else has to wait a bit for theirs, I'm a lot less concerned.

Yep, I bet the TWC release has really spiked interest. I'd be curious to know how many units they end up producing since they're numbering these.

Nice, Roger got back to me within just a few minutes and had a tracking number for me about a week later. They're actively building up the remaining batch of parts from the original 2008 run and once they're gone, that's it.

Here's a really thorough review of it.

I watched this, and it's pretty thorough. A couple of misstated facts about the original, but overall very useful. I can't imagine how his acquaintance could compare the weights of the original and this replica without having them both together. I examined the original back in 2014 (not 25 years ago as it turns out--that's memory for ya), and I couldn't tell you with a gun to my head how much it weighed. I'll certainly never be able to confirm whether this replica weighs the same or even close.

I can confirm his speculation that it was a little geared motor in there. IIRC, it said "West Germany" on it, and many theorized back then that it was from a still camera motor wind. I was very surprised to hear that it still works. It worked when I examined it, but that was quite some time ago, and it was almost 50 years old then.

Can't wait to get this thing into my tricorder!

Yeah don't worry. He's very responsive. And yeah it's the weekend. Seems like a really stand-up guy.
So far so good on my end.

By the way, speaking of tricorders, I got fresh tracking just now! Looks like tomorrow really is the day!

BTW, this is the USPS tracking. Amazon UK still thinks it's coming on the 13th.

So on the scanner did it ever have graphics on the bottom or is that just from Franzese Joseph?
Not on the prop, no. That's just from FJ. You can see it just has a plain aluminum bottom on the show, and it was the same when I examined it. I'm just going to leave those display stickers in the baggie in the box.

I bought mine yesterday but I don't have the tracking number yet. Should be soon. I can't wait--it looks like an incredible replica. I have mixed feelings about the geared motor--on the one hand you can hear it over the sound effect, but on the other hand, it's canon. You can hear the geared motor on the show in dialogue scenes.

Fun fact--I got to examine the original about 25 years ago in PA, and it still worked.
The new one spins a tad slower than the authentic scanner but yes, the grinding sound mixed with the sound FX does give it that authentic quality we would hear on screen.

I want to give a short review. It is awesome! It comes with a presentation box and the scanner stickers and plaque. You will not be disappointed. I also have the original DStines. Runs off a battery. The motor is quiter in the new version that charges with the c cable. I think that it is well worth the money. But again, you need the science scanner as well. Both should fit in perfectly.
The one that was shipped to me has a very noisy motor that sounds like it’s grinding. Not unlike the sound of the prop when it’s sound wasn’t covered/replaced by the SFX editors.
