The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

The new one spins a tad slower than the authentic scanner but yes, the grinding sound mixed with the sound FX does give it that authentic quality we would hear on screen.
Oh man, now I need to go scan through the episodes real quick to find a good shot of the spin rate while I'm waiting for mine to be delivered so I can compare. HAHA

Any minute now!

In other notes, yes, the strap is quite short. I'm sure an aftermarket will open up for new straps once more tricorders reach the market. They measured the strap on the Jein Frankencorder, so I'm sure it's accurate to that prop.

Yes, it's hard to push the buttons without the hood turning one way or the other. But I've almost figured out the right touch. Almost.

I LOVE that the bridge button sound effects play when you work the buttons.

Also, a warning: If you go spelunking through the Service screen, beware that the USB Update button sends the tricorder into some kind of weird Blank Screen with Red Lights of Death. It's a very scary moment. Fortunately, it just resets after a minute or two and turns itself back on. Whew!

Pictures and video coming, though the video will be awhile--two shots call for the med scanner, and that doesn't ship till at least Monday. Meanwhile, I've got some shooting and editing to do.

Scanner arrived and it’s very well made! The motor sounds solid and has a good balance with the sound effects. You can hear both but the sounds are louder. Best of both worlds in my opinion.
The ONLY slight down side to mine, which doesn't even bother me, is that I got number 51 on both the cert and plaque but when unscrewing the end cap to expose the plug, the actual unit is number 61. I’m totally fine with it but I will email Roger to see if we can swap it out.

Wow! Roger already replied and said they would ship out the correct serial number scanner insert, that it's just pressure fit to the internals and can be removed with something like a letter opener. He said they'd ship out number 51 and then I could swap them out and send number 61 back to them. Amazing communication and excellent support.

I also plugged the scanner in to charge. It has a red light when charging that turns green when done and only takes a few minutes to charge fully.

I love this little thing!
