The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

While reviewing aspects of my order…. I noticed an option I have never had show up for previous items purchased through Amazon…that I can think of, at least Amazon U.S.

In the orders page ….the option Return or Replace Items. I’ve had the Return option but never the Replace option.

Not bad….if your not totally satisfied with the Tricorder because of this, that, or the other thing, TWC, through Amazon U.K. will Replace it…within a certain amount of time of course….if I understand the details of Amazons Replace policy option.

Chromed plastic and....shadows??

Perhaps, someone here on RPF who already has a Tricorder in hand, can give feedback reviews on the close up esthetics…

I assume when the next 2nd batch becomes available on Amazon UK…..the Amazon UK product reviews for the 1st batch will be posted.

Chromed plastic and shadows?…..Hmmmm…perhaps, perhaps not. On the surface at this angle…the buttons don’t look 100% mfg’d symmetrical. Just a visual….

I could be wrong but I’m saying chromed aluminum. If I had a small magnet I’d test it but I do not.

In one of the unboxing review, someone asked Chris if they were aluminum and he said no, as the originals were slot car hubs, they made them chromed (vac metalized) plastic to match. Possibly the Adam Savage one. I don't remember.

Yeah looks metal not rubber switch boots, or plastic. The symmetry looks better. Interesting
Not to continue to play armchair expert, but it's risky to draw conclusions about details from blown-up cell pics. There's a lot of AI and image processing that goes on in these things, so details can get mushy. I'm willing to bet the odd, uneven look of the prior pics is processing artifacts.

Size comparison. Left is a diamond select, the View attachment 1928383View attachment 1928382middle I believe is a JTK, (I bought the kit second hand forever ago) and right is the Wand.
Thanks for the comparison shots. Of course, the Wand version is the most awesome. But give some love to the Diamond Select -- pretty good accuracy for what was, essentially, a toy. Some love went into that one, too.

Electroplated, not vac metalized. See above.

Revisiting my hood rotation angst……

I think I have solutions to limiting the full 180 rotation of the hood to roughly 90 instead.

The hood rotates as far as how many divots there are….it stops rotating when there are no more divots to engage…imo

A) limit the amount of divots by filling them in, to get to 90, with some sort of plastic filler or epoxy and sand or file down dried material used to be even with the side of the hood.

Or

B) Create a small plastic raised stubble to glue into one of the divots, thereby creating a stop…to get to roughly 90.

Without having one in hand to open up…..these are just WAGs…for now.
