The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

Revisiting my hood rotation angst……

I think I have solutions to limiting the full 180 rotation of the hood to roughly 90 instead.

The hood rotates as far as how many divots there are….it stops rotating when there are no more divots to engage…imo

A) limit the amount of divots by filling them in, to get to 90, with some sort of plastic filler or epoxy and sand or file down dried material used to be even with the side of the hood.

Or

B) Create a small plastic raised stubble to glue into one of the divots, thereby creating a stop…to get to roughly 90.

Without having one in hand to open up…..these are just WAGs…for now.

From what’s shown in the image, this looks like a pretty straightforward way to limit the range of motion. I’d think this is one of the easier mods (before we see tricorders popped open and strewn across workbenches!) ;):p

I’m thinking this is some sort of raised lettering “stenciling” process poorly executed ..imo…….not the choice I would have made.

Packaging Collectors (I.e. no dents, bends, tears, scratches, discoloration, etc.) will probably have aneurisms ….. letters rubbing, flaking, peeling off…. Oh My

crazy cuckoo GIF

Apparently I have jumped in the deep end, of the crazy forum.

OK, now that we have seen the terrible quality after blowing up the pictures by a factor of ten and then a factor of hundred to really make out the defects, could some one just skip to a factor of 10,000 so we can get down to the very fine details of these pieces?

Yep, this captures the feel of all those original Star Trek prop forums.

Good advice from Steve Pielock over at the Fleet Workshop:

When the orders start happening again Amazon UK, make sure your credit/debit card is set up for International use. Call the bank and make sure they are aware your making this purchase so they dont lock your card up thinking its a fraudulent charge! That was what happened to me. I was able to have my bank. Open the card back up for use, and then talked to a representative at Amazon UK to have them run the card and it finally went through the next day. Apparently, this happened to several people last week.
