The Guyver *Completed*

Re: Guyver *WIP*

So.... I got best in my class...but not best in show at the convention. I was beaten by Zelda. Needless to say the judges liked sewing and hand painting versus mine... I couldn't even win workmanship. :( But here are some pics that Ron Berg Studio took.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

I was amazed.... I felt really small.

Hey you got nothing to do but hold your head high, know you made an epic piece of costumery and realize that some people are too clueless to appreciate that.

On the flip side what kind of general reaction did you get? And did you get to unleash the mega blaster? I swear the Guyver is the Rodney Dangerfield of sci-fi, no respect :angry

This...

End of the day I don't think enough people know Guyver to appreciate it to its fullest....

Well I guess these things aren't judged right then cause I have seen a million Zelda costumes. Its not a very original choice. You would think seeing something new and done this well would have the upper hand. I guess I won't win anything with the next suit I have planned then as very few will know it. I don't care though we do this for the passion and Durk I can not tell you how much I love your build. Gyver was the first anime I saw so for those of us that know it should fully appreciate it. Not to mention you are one of the very few that have made the suit. It's a shame that your build wasn't judged as a build because there are a lot of people out there that can sew but very few that can achieve what you have with foam.

Even if they did know him, how do u ignore the amount of work put into this suit? It's highway robbery! I want to see this Zelda lol

I didn't show the mega smashers until the cosplay contest. The audience went crazy.... even if the majority didn't know what it was. Had people take a lot of pics of the suit even if they didn't know who it was.

Different cons for different measures. If the judges are all people that hand sew and create their entire outfit...I did have a cast for the helmet so it wasn't 100% mine.

The reason I did this build was because it was one of my first intros to anime. My step-dad watched the live movie with me and it instantly stuck with me....I had to know what was beyond that awesome "b" movie. lol

Glad everyone likes it....I definitely made some mouths drop when I was walking around in it. The insulation foam is the only thing I had problems with but it's because I didn't seal it good enough. Paint was flaking off everywhere. But I was able to sit down in it without damaging anything. Foam is definitely a plus in my book....

I hope they'll post the pictures online..... she used some pool table sealer for her detail work. It was pretty cool...... :p

I am shocked you did not win first. :confused
Maybe if you give it another shot at the other con you will get a better reaction.

Planet Comic-Con in KC is in a couple weeks.... going to try a redo. Finally found some pics from the cosplay contest.

Thanks again for following!

Congrats for the fantastic jod!! Well done!!
Sorry that the judges didn´t apreciate the hard work and the effort!!

Looks great!! Shame to hear about the judges result cus the work put into your suit is mind blowing.

Morning Durkness dude.

I'm not familiar with the source material, i'm not a costume guy, I'm just a regular model builder but i just have to say that I saw your picture on the hot wife thread and just HAD to come and check it out.

Buddy, Buddy, Buddy. :eek

Out-Friggin-Standing. :eek

The level of craftmanship is truly inspiring, the fact that you didn't win just reinforces my opinion of judged events, -pfaa- what do judges know anyway :behave.

I have never made a suit of anykind, always wanted a Stormtrooper but no one wants to see a fat stormtrooper (reminds me too much of Peter from family guy) just doesn't look right.

I take my hat off to you sir and will probably throw it away. :D
Great great stuff.

Gag

Thank you for the compliments... it will get another test run in a couple weeks. Some high profile builders will be at another con so I will see how it stacks up.

I just had a friend who doesn't even get into cons or costumes but he asked who is that guy on my fb withthe blue armor... He said it was really awesome... Great work my friend.
