The Guyver *Completed*

Re: Guyver *WIP*

That looks insane!!!! I think at this point you're being too picky. Sit back and look at what you've done. Really, just take a step back or two and realize that what you have in front of you is a magnificently detailed foam build. As far as the "inaccuracies" I think only you'll be able to tell. The rest of us aren't even looking for them.

You are right.... I'm have to make the hands, install the other light, make the connections from the chest to the helmet, and I'm going to a convention with the bad boy. With all of the unreal builds on here it's hard not to be so picky.... I want to be cool like the rest of you. Thanks Diegator...

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Dude you really sell yourself short. Most of us can only dream of achieving the level of detail and epicness you have. For a second foam build it goes above and beyond! I can not wait till this is completely finished.

This...

Fantastic work with this suit. I think this is the bar all future guyver suits should be working towards, especially my own. If I can get the level of detail and look of your's i'll be more than happy.

I've never used foam though and since my suit is for a Guyver fan film i'm writing I think i'll need to take a different route, especially after reading your comments on mobility and movement.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Wow...just wow O_O....I want one. Just blown away from the details, color...everything lol I think I've lurked long enough trying to study tips, tricks etc from all types of builds from everyone and you've helped motivate me to start building. Hats off and thumbs up. :)

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Oh no... just been working on other things. I have two weeks and i'll be able to go to a convention with it. Made the gloves... :D

Re: Guyver *WIP*

as a Noob to both these forums and costuming in general (and a huuuuge fan of the Guyver) I must throw my .02 in....

Wow...I errr would think to describe this build as ridiculously good. The color, the detail, everything def. leaves the jaw hanging. Its even more awesome you're using the leftover foam to make a costume for your kids. Good on ya :), I also cannot wait to see the finished product.

Thanks for the props. If I would have made the helmet it would make me feel a little bit more worthy of that praise. Everyone can do this project...lol

I watched the Forward Unto Dawn behind the scenes clips and they talked about mobility with their suits. If this was a full time suit and needed to be mobile, all it would take is to trim the lower biceps and probably stronger magnets. I could have not done as thick of vest and just connect the chest to all the pieces to flatten it. There is a lot that I could have done differently overall.

Awesome.... I have wasted soooo many hours studying before I started cutting into things. You'll get hooked!!!

Lol... thank you very much.

I have attached some pics that I put on my facebook and not here.... The long thin strips are what are going to connect the center of the upper chest to the helmet....those were before the paint though. On the model I was using for reference they were very thin so I decided to go that route instead of the round tubes like the movie.

The gloves I bought large....should have bought xl because they were too small but I needed them tight. That's why there is more black as it goes towards the pinky. With the foam on the fingertips I am not able to trigger the button like I want so I am going to just fix them back to push button lights and have them on for the time I wear the suit.

March 16th is when this costume sees the public at an anime convention. Can't wait to see how the reaction is to it....

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Ha now that forearm and blade is awesome. The glove looks fine to me size wise. How come you didn't detail the hands with the same texture as the rest of the suit?

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Dunno... I thought more of an armored look versus the organic. The hands didn't look right to me after I glued them on the gloves.... the outer rim and the hand cover are smooth with limited details.

I have to work on the chest so I may just detail the back of the hand to blend in better.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Bought my orange and yellow paint for the mega-smashers. Replaced both of the lights with the regular push function..... I was bummed I couldn't trigger it how I wanted it. I kinda want to build a version 2 of this suit now that I've learned some tricks.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

A version 2 ? Do so and I provide pep files with enlarged shins and trimmed biceps as you expected them to look like. Just tell me what you need.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

It's on the books..... I like the width but the length would definitely need to be adjusted. I want to try to make the helmet too... But depending on if someone attempts the Alien... that would be the next sculpting project before this.

It could always come down to the re-sizing of the sections I need, different paint, and a self made helmet. So.....a version 2 on sections....lol.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Wow that would be sick, I always thought the most bad ass part of the guyver was the Blades coming out in preparation for an epic beatdown.

I completely agree!!!

That's pretty sick dude! Awesome foam work my friend.

All in the basketball court....lol. That thinner foam is just so much easier than the 1/2 inch at Harbor Freight. I only have to use one blade for and entire build and because of the thickness you have more controlled cuts. Thanks BSD!

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Convention is next weekend....so more tests for the suit for fitting.

*I trimmed the lower bicep and it made a tremendous amount of difference.

*Added the pieces going to the helmet and attached them with magnets. I am going to change it to velcro because of the mega smasher picture. One of them fell down and stuck on that magnet.

*Placed a small piece of velcro on the thighs so they wouldn't rotate.

*Still need some anti-fogging spray. :facepalm

*Nytfall noticed my spacing on under the abs (Facebook)....guessing I should make the other medal and attach it to the belt.

*I removed the chest pieces about four times to practice showing the smasher. One of the times it I couldn't even get them reconnected...my wife had to help. So needless to say I may leave that for the final seconds of the cosplay competition.

Our local Wal-Mart didn't have my spray paint (again) to finish touching up and respraying the insulation foam. I had some flaked off an I assisted it even more so it looks kinda worn now...lol.

The last picture is with the cell phone... the real camera makes this suit look really sick.... :D
