Okay, next update: how I'm displaying it!
- I went to the pet store and picked up this reptile cave, which is a wooden half-circle covered in bark on the outside:
- The curve was more acute than I want, so I split it with a screwdriver and a hammer. A few good taps and it cut cleanly in half.
- I took my Dremel and cut a slot in it, wide enough and deep enough to fit the smaller part of the arrowhead.
- And then I squeezed a little hot glue into the slot, and dropped in my dart at a slightly downward angle.
A little bit of double-sided tape, and it's in the corner of my display shelf, with the dart angling about 45 degrees longways and forward. It adds a nice 3D effect to the display!
Okay, about the run. Give me a week or two to start getting parts and materials together, but this is the plan. I will offer the dart in three versions:
(Note: All kits will include STRING as the wrap, NOT wire.)
- $10.00 - Raw kit - You must sand, assemble, and paint. I'll provide the arrowhead, 1mm rod, string, and dowel.
- $20.00 - Assembled & Primed - I will sand, assemble, and prime the whole dart in black. You have to finish it.
- $30.00 - Fully finished - As you see above, with all 8 layers of coloration and weathering that I went through!
Shipping in the U.S. is free. Shipping outside the U.S. will be a discounted $12 total, regardless of quantity ordered.
I won't be asking for payment until I have inventory ready to go.
But to RESERVE your dart, PLEASE DM me with your location and quantity of which kit(s) you want.
I will keep updating this thread as I make progress in the run.
Guys, I can't thank you enough for the votes of confidence. This came out so well because I had cheerleaders!
