Limited Run Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLOSED)

Re: Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLO

I'm loving the way the saber turned out! The only issue I have right now is that I can't get the clamp to tighten enough to hold the slothfurnace card. There is maybe an 1/8th inch gap of space with the lever closed, and the card slips right out. Would this be a clamp issue? card issue? something I'm not doing right? I noticed in goodie's video his card was held in place properly.

Hmm, did you sand your tabs down?

See if you can tighten the lever some. Or you can add some scotch tape to the edges of the card to get it to stay put.

I had to tighten mine as much as I could and there is still a small space between the edge of the card and clamp slot. The raised solder on the card is helping to hold it in. May need to use a small adhesive or some double sided tape on the edge of the card.

This is the loosest clamp card setting I've seen in a saber. Might warrant a custom card to be made that's bigger.

I'm not sure why the Roman clamp isnt holding tighter for you. Here is mine with a slothfurnace card, Roy's lever and a vintage clamp

Are you using a Roman clamp? Can you tell me when you purchased it?

I got my Roman clamp 2 months ago and this is how it fits, or does20180418_210712.jpgn't. This isn't a sf card but it's the same dimensions from his site.

I wonder if the clamps that he's selling now are different since he started with the new shop for he Graflex kits.

I just tried my slothfurnace card in the Romans graflex clamp I got towards the beginning of this year (on your previous V2) - it's too skinny. The card I got from Roy is about 2.5 mm wider.

If that helps.

Hey fellas, so the solution I found for the current Romans clamp is this.

A lot of Vintage clamp have their bar sections bent ever so slightly because of years of use. Here’s a reference with my vintage clamp.

If you look where the bars are being pulled together there is an ever so slight bend in it. I simply recreated that as well as I could with my Romans and voila!

Would it kill the owner of the V2 to release some actual, detailed close up HD photos?

Re: Sign up thread for NEW Luke V2 light saber run. Spring 2018 edition (SIGN UP CLO

Or can you screw it in without scraping the body?

Hey CJ2319 ! Try screwing the Mystery Chunk into the Pommel BEFORE inserting the Pommel into the Booster.

Mine goes in down to the lip running around the base of the Cubes. It sort of wobbles around from corner tip to corner tip, but it won't come out because it can't turn but 80*s or so once the Pommel is inserted into the Booster and it stops turning back and forth where its corners bump into the Booster's bevel.

I actually realized how dumb I was to try it after attaching the pommel. It seems OK now and doesn't move.

Here's how it looks on the original

From what I can tell in that picture, it does look like the clamp has been bent a bit as Hopkinsc1 is suggesting.

I purchased my clamp from Roman about a month ago, and sanded the tabs completely last night (it would not have even slid on had I not sanded them off).

I'm not sure why the Roman clamp isnt holding tighter for you.

Probably because the clamps have changed quite a bit from batch to batch. I have two bought at the same time, one loose and one with a hilt, that apart from being "replicas" are nothing alike.

Loctite (blue) should fix that.

I thought Roman was more precise than to allow such variation. That's sort of concerning.

Roman is not the problem. Roy is not the problem, Brad is not the problem.
There is nothing to worry about. I just measured my latest gen roman clamp to two of my vintage clamps and they're identical.
I think some people may not initially realize that the clamps are more flexible in adjustment than they think.
Yeah definitely grind the tabs down, but other than that, you can adjust the tightness more if you remove the clamp, give it another turn and put it back on. You can ever so slightly bend in the vertical parts where the bars go for a tighter grip on the card. you can slightly bend in the grooves for a tighter grip on the card. You can put a piece of tape on the back of the card to make it a bit thicker for a tighter hold. if one lever position is too loose and the next turn is too tight, unscrew it all the way, rotate the square nut one half turn and try again to get that perfect half way point. It's not an exact science, it's a cobbled together replica of a cobbled together prop. Be a little flexible before dog piling all of this hard work for not having air tight tolerances on something that honestly shouldn't have.
