Ryan Gosling 'K' - Blade Runner 2049!

Big day today! My Soul Revolver coat arrived.. I have to say right out of the packet - YES. The material is worth the cost and I am very glad I decided to keep my order and not cancel it.

Its interesting to put it side by side to the revised Magnoli. Although the Magnoli is a beautiful green, I feel the SR is more accurate and of course doesn't come with that waxy residue as a bonus. We all know the coat varies by the lighting, but the SR fabric just seems closer to the film in most lighting I have looked at it in so far. The Magnoli is just a little vibrant by comparison. Here is what really rubs though.. side by side.. the Magnoli looks like a cos-play coat... sigh.. it just does. The SR looks like a real world Dystopian 'K' coat.

Even though the SR shearling is completely the wrong colour, I actually prefer it to the Magnoli. The Magnoli feels like carpet by comparison. I will be replacing the SR shearling, moving the collar and installing shoulder pads - its going to the tailor next week.

For what its worth, I feel the revised Magnoli is more accurate in the collar, shoulder pads and shearling out of the box, but Id happily trade it for the SR fabric any day. It just looks pretty much exactly like the coat in the film. The Magnoli is going to suit anyone who wants to cos-play just fine, but wandering the winter streets of the noir city at night, I know I will be reaching for my SR.

All of this probably doesn't bode very well for the sale of my Magnoli (yes I am going to sell it), but its just my honest opinion now I have both coats. The SR is going to take a bit more work, but its going to be a better coat in the long run.

Other things I appreciate about the SR over the Magnoli
- Larger lapels more SA.
- The writing on the back is more SA and less in your face. The Magnoli is subtle, the SR is even more so.

Oh.. and here is another inaccuracy that both Magnoli and SR get wrong (not sure about the WSL coat - Mechanismo can you check if you have a blaster?). In the film, K picks up Deckard's blaster and puts it in his right coat pocket in one smooth motion. It doesn't fit in the SR or Magnoli pockets. Not a big deal in terms of SA, but if we are being truly picky; well.... the pockets need to be a little deeper....

The SR is the jacket on the left. Magnoli on the right.

Yep, your impression of both coats is pretty much consistent with what we've been saying here for the past 6 months or so. There is just no comparison - they are different beasts. I personally prefer the SR for several reasons, some of which you mentioned. For the waxed version to rival the SR, one would have to do what Mechanismo did with his WSL. His coat version is truly amazing as well - both take some work, the SR and the WSL. But it should be easier now that we have a blueprint for each coat that future fans can follow to revise their coats. Congrats and enjoy.

In the store? It's not available online anymore unfortunately
sorry for the double reply. shows there are still some available on my end. unless this is the wrong jacket and the link is broken lol. would be just my luck haha

jholko When I had a Magnoli- I asked for the lettering on the back to be as light as possible and it came out as light or lighter than the SR in your picture. PM'ed you re the uniqlo coat.

Like Shahrooz said, they are different beasts. Each really nice in its own way. But with a few steps(maybe less if SR ever takes the advice from Shahrooz) the SR is most accurate if that is the goal.

I cant wait to see the updated pics Shahrooz

Thanks for the comparison. If you wouldn't mind could you take some pictures with the collar up on the SR and Magnoli to compare as well?

Any one have an idea how much it costs for a tailor to move the collar on the SR?

Do you want side on or front pictures of the collar up? My tailor quoted me $125 to move the collar, replace the shearling and install the shoulder pads. Quite a bit of work to undo all the stitching by hand apparently. Also, my tailor told me I have to be there when they do they shoulder pads as they want to ensure it matches the screen coat image I sent them.

If it's a good tailor (sounds like it) I think $125 is a very fair price. Go for it!

Thanks for sharing, that's not bad to do all that work. Side and front would be great pics to see. I'm still on the fence between Magnoli and the SR coat.

LA is an expensive town. Perhaps others can find a better deal in smaller or less expensive cities. But in all fairness, this involves a LOT of work so 125 dollars seems a bit like a bait and switch to me. Removing and replacing the shearling alone should cost more than 125 IMHO.

I would read the posts on here very carefully as I did. Take a look at the real life pictures not the websites and ask all the questions. They are two different things. I will provide pictures of my heavily altered SR coat. Keep in mind that you need a very good tailor for this. Seems that the Magnoli needs a lot of changes too. jholko wanting to sell his Magnoli once he got the SR should tell you something, though. But to each his or her own.

Yeah I'm leaning towards the SR just wanted to see how much extra money I might have to spend. Hoping I'll like it enough out of the box but I'll have to wait and see.

From what I understand, you'd have some alterations costs with the Magnoli also plus the lapels are still too small as jholko confirmed and as Mechanismo has been saying for months now and you wont unfortunately be able to fix that. To me, the lapels being too small is a dealkiller. I'd rather go with a WSL which is made out of the same material but at least you can custom order it for a fraction of the cost.

Don't forget guys... our coats are entirely made-to-order, so you can request specific lapel widths, collar heights, etc. As Malibu139 said, we can do fainter printing on the back. Also... if someone wants to commission one of these, I've got a ton of info on the original coat that we're planning on using to completely revise our patterns.

it would be really great if you could provide details on this information that you've now referred to several times. I'm not quite sure why it takes someone to commission a coat for you to be able to share this information with the group. Or even better, why not just offer this new version on your site with the same level of details that you provide for your current coat so that people can decide? I'm quite sure that many of us would be very intrigued to hear what this ton of information is and speaking for myself, I'd be inclined to order another coat if it were something really interesting. Just my 2 cents. Thanks.
