My son & I have slowly been working our way through sanding the pieces. Slowly, not because there's excessive sanding needed, but because we want it to look like a museum piece. I will certainly post pictures when assembly starts...but that could be several months away, with the way my builds/life goes.

I managed to finish it before fanexpo last week in Toronto, Really happy with it. Added a real screw for the handle incase I want to replace with real wood handles later.

Very happy with mine. Just messing around with the paint and some Rub n Buff. I also used a grey filler undercoat that took away the need to sand some of the finer 3D lines. Was going to weight it with some lead sinkers in the grips and barrel but it just didn't seem to be enough before I glued it up. Does anyone have any good ideas? It's prob too late for this one but I like it to look at. Great job

Not sure about weights... My biggest suggestion when finishing is to sand, then sand and finally sand again.

I had the same thought after passing a fishing store by accident. I'm planning to carefully hollow out a part in the magazine and in the main body to sneak in a few more weights. But I can only get it to about 200 grams, which I'm told is light for a gun.
Still it feels hefty enough, and the real deal is probably made out of a future space metal or something anyway.

I'm looking into how best to paint it and I would like to go for the brass with the blackened parts. Any tips for how best to get that?

Just to be curious has anyone worked out or actually implemented a way to connect this kit's trigger and hammer to simulate a working single or double action weapon???

I used Universal's Metallic Dark Steel for Gun body and mag, and then used a light coat of Cherry wood stain for the grips.
