Looks goofy to me. It's not the worst design I've seen, but it looks more silly than intimidating.

OK, if you insist.

Being impaled anywhere through the torso by a high energy weapon should be fatal, although perhaps not immediately. It depends what was hit. A few high points:

ABDOMEN:
If you hit the inferior vena cava or aorta, although the lightsaber MIGHT be able to cauterize these two large blood pipes (but when they bleed, you can HEAR the bleeding), you would still have cut off the circulatory route throughout your abdomen and lower extremities. While you might not "bleed to death" it would be akin to kinking a garden hose... no throughput.

Your small intestine is arranged all over the place in your abdomen, while in general the colon runs right side up, across the upper middle, and down the left side, towards the pelvis/rectum. Your stomach is upper/middle. A saber passing through your "gut" is going to hit some part of the GI tract and spill GI and fecal contents into your abdominal cavity. Sepsis can take a while to set-up, but if not quickly treated, you die.

PELVIS:
Your ilac and femoral vessels carry the blood on its circuit through your legs. You are more likely to survive a saber injury here IF the vessels are cauterized, but you may lose the limb if not urgently repaired. Part of you intestines also sits in your pelvis, so again... more likely to also have a GI tract injury as well.

CHEST/THORAX:
Your heart is midline and to the left. Stab it with a saber... you don't live. Impale it clean through with a metal pipe (a la John Carter) you STILL shouldn't live more than a few fleeting moments... this it not a Temple of Doom scenario, kids. Impaling either lung will cause it to collapse, and can lead to a tension pneumothorax. People HAVE regularly survived one collapsed lung, though.

Upper chest: you can hit the trachea, innominate artery, aortic arch and/or external carotid arteries at the origin. Bad news.

...and we haven't even talked about all of the nerve and bone injuries that can come from the saber stab.

The music in this game is some of the best non John Williams SW music ever, along with Dark Forces, IMO. I really wish they had done a sequel to this game!

But it never paid off. There should have been at least one moment where it didn't work right.
Not to mention they never gave that explanation on screen.

The music in this game is some of the best non John Williams SW music ever, along with Dark Forces, IMO. I really wish they had done a sequel to this game!

Agreed on the best non John Williams SW music.Old LucasArts games were amazing.

My friend and I looked at said at the same time "bring out the gimp". Like a few others have posted the Pulp Fiction meme,I thought the gimp fled Zed's basement in the pawnshop and some how returned somewhere else.

Dude DEIsney has done nothing but make great moves. They have almost perfected "hate writing/directing" to counter balance the "hate watching".

The problem most people have with that helmet, besides thinking it looks goofy, it doesn't make sense and is typical Lucasfilm stereotyping. What I mean is that this helmet looks like someone who has been in lots of battles. The Sith are supposed to not even be fighting in this period; they used proxies to hide themselves. The first time they are supposed to be taking direct action was in the Darth Maul Shadow Hunter, which was the same year TPM took place. Yes it's not canon, but makes sense because at that point the Jedi couldn't do anything about the Sith even if they know about them. The other issue and what I mean by stereotyping is that Lucasfilm, even under Lucas, always stereotyped groups and species. For example, for a while every Sith character had tattoos, many wore helmets. You had races like Rodians who in the books/games were always bounty hunters because Greedo was a bounty hunter. Stuff like that. I read that they said the zipper helmet was supposed to be unsettling to the Jedi, but it looks like a DC/SW mashup where this is what The Joker would look like in SW.
