There is no course correction for star wars if you were thinking all the recent failures were going to wake them up....

I thought this was a joke when I heard it, but... Hey if they want a trans character, make one, don't steal a character to makeover. However this shows that they either have no clue about their own property's lore or they don't care. The Kaminoans would euthanize any clone aberration that didn't fit their ideal product. And yes that would be an aberration seeing how they didn't intend to make female clonetroopers.

As for Dark Side/Light Side, no one has really explained why there are still spirits of dead Sith. My only guess is they found some other way to live after death, but I'm guessing it's not equal to the Jedi's/Whill's ability to retain your identity after death. Maybe they can only exist in tombs strong in the Dark Side? That wouldn't explain how Palpatine came back (I'm only acknowledging Dark Empire), but in that case it was his spirit coming back into a clone body. So maybe there's so loophole.

I'm not surprised. (trans stormtrooper)

LFL won't tangibly change until a lot of heads roll. Upper management doesn't make these creative decisions, they hire the people who do.

I suppose there are rationales for the Empire to want trans stormtroopers though. Women are biologically better than men at certain jobs. The ideal trooper is probably some genetic hybrid of a lot of traits, and that probably includes some female ones. Of course the ideal formula would also vary depending on the specialized job they were doing.

You are correct in the surmise that different genetic variants would offer different traits and the possibility of different skillsets. The same fact that has been fought openly as untrue by this same Disney for many years.

However,

He is not a biological women. He is a male clone. There is no benefit. Nothing that a women would bring in her genetic makeup is found in this clone. Any changes to his physical characteristics would not bring these traits to exist. If he feels the need to be she and still follow orders and not modify those orders or regulations to make a huge differentiation between himself and the others, then and only then would this clone not be selectively eliminated by the caminoans. This is canon. Strict genetics, strict training or they were not selected for final deployment. Women in the real world military do not need to differentiate themselves and put up big posturing flags about it. Nickname him sister, it doesn't matter, but you follow the same regulations on dress code and personal appearance that everyone else does. This bizarro world talk of a CLONE trooper going and advertising they are trans by changing their actual appearance shows a serious lack of adherance to rules and regulations. Does he also get to disobey other orders? Where's the line? In the real military, only non combat troops show any differentiation between male and female. Combat troops simply do not show any difference unless they are disobeying regulations. They are not introducing trans into a situation where it would even be possible to do so. Are we supposed to believe that Palpatine cares about this individuals self expression? Will he offer some meds or surgery as a medical benefit? Will Palpatine offer some time off from the war for recovery from transition surgery? No, because he purchased order-following, genetically identical meatbags to fight and die so he could take over the republic. It is just pathetic writing by junior high level script writers paid to insert agenda into storyline. It fails because it is poor writing. It fails because it is not canon. It fails because it is not an actual storyline possibility. It fails because it isn't even interesting. A story about a clone trooper who thought his boogers were nutritious would be a better story. He would constantly have helmet off, chowing down and every time he was ordered to put it back on he refuses. His need for self expression overriding his need to follow orders. "Have you tried these? They are delicious."

"Sister" doesn't make any sense from a lore perspective. A clone acting like that would have been considered an aberration and would have just "disappeared." Not to mention the brain washed brothers would not have accepted him like that. The clone take pride is their solidarity and uniformity.

I agree that the empire respecting a trooper's wish to change genders makes no effing sense.

But this stuff tends to happen when the creatives in charge of a franchise would rather vandalize it than nourish it.

Which is canon and follows logic of the story. And is canon because it has to be that way in the story for specific story purposes. It won't fit if someone yells, "you just don't like change" because it can't change, it is written the original way on purpose. Forget canon or not for this moment and just accept that it doesn't fit the story at all for any reason, whatsoever.

I hadn't really noticed this before but Kathleen spent a lot of time and effort to rewrite the clone troopers as artistic, emotional, individuals who were kind and don't like being told what to do. Massive campaigns in our real world were paid for by Disney to decorate helmets and show each clone as an individual. Efforts that she spent years on. I hadn't noticed how odd that was at the time. Seemed like selling product. But now it is clear where it was headed. Those troopers weren't the badguys.... the peasants were...?

WHAT YOU DESCRIBED IS THE ACTUAL CORE ISSUE

There does seem to be a purposed destruction. Psy-ops is the first to come to mind. True Social-Engineering. The definition before Bill tried to hide the science of Social Engineering under hacker terms. The use of regulations or media to shape the general populous, either physically or mentally.

But here is the phenomenally coincidental part: Palpatine does, from Episode 1 through 6, what Disney is doing right now.

It makes you wonder if this is why 7-9 are purposely non logical and non canon. To hide what 1-6 already taught.

But the purposed downfall of Disney by its execs seems to be undeniable at this stage, whatever the true underlying reasons are.
