Yea, I have to agree, that Mini-Maul is too cute. This project is really exciting!
One thing i'm interested in from an ergonomics perspective is the button placement. I currently have one "staff saber" composed of 2 Wranglers, with similar button placement to the Maul, and I find it a bit tricky to use the staff without hitting the activation buttons.
I have to be conscious of where my hand placement is during use, and I was wondering if anyone else out there who uses the Maul staff (or other staff sabers) has had a similar experience.

A few updates.

- I have received the solenoid and well it's just too small to work properly. So I have decided to get rid of it. On the plus side, It frees up space for the third plunger and make it more stable.
- I have also increased the size (diameter and length) of the couplers to significantly reduce potential wobble. I was able to move the plungers to a higher diameter and changed them from M5 to an M6 that has a stronger hold (3.5lbs each vs 6.3lbs each). Total hold force goes from around 17.5 lbs to 37.8 lbs
- I have sent the revised model to the shop and are now waiting on the final quote. Once i get it I will lt you guys know the cost.
- Darth Maul Special edition. This one will have a media blasted body (to resemble the resin casting), zinc plated emitter washers, 2 emitter endcaps, quick disconnect and fixed couplers. The full hilt is made out of 2 different halves. Side A will be made out of 3 sections (Main body, coupling body and emitter), with the coupling section being clockable. Side B will have 2 sections (Body and emitter) and the covertec wheel. You will be able to convert this one in to a mini Maul by using Side A, you will have to flip the coupling section and then use the emitter from Side B to complete. Collectors box designed by Christian Cruz.
- Darth Maul DIY edition. Same as above but no media blasting. This way you can do your own style of weathering. Collectors box designed by Christian Cruz.
- Mini Maul edition. You will get Side A plus an extra Emitter. Collectors box designed by Christian Cruz.
- Side A only (both media blasted or clean versions). No collectors box to reduce cost.
- Side B only (both media blasted or clean versions). No collectors box to reduce cost. Lowest cost option.
- Individual sections will be available as well for the custom and diy crew

I have warned the shop about NEVER making the finish like series 4. The series 1 restock comes in today. I expect the finish to be like series 1 thru 3 or else i will send them back to be reworked.
Where is the best place to see a sampling of that media blasted finish?

What a beautifully engineered design. What would i have to buy to make a battle damaged Maul?
The series 1 restock arrived yesterday and they have the correct finish.
I have asked the shop to keep samples of the parts so they can match the proper finish
Here is a comparison between series 4 and 1 restock. They were both taken at the same distance and under the same lighting conditions (I have a photo booth). The series 4 is shinier, you can see much more light being reflected of its surface versus the restock series 1.
I am making sure that any restock and the Series 6 Maul gets the same threatment as the series 1.
