Best Cap shield replicas?

Thanks for your reply. Any recommendations on something close to the Lager version? I like the version from the-armorfactory with the exception of the paint. The star and the blue looks great. Not sure if anyone has ordered from them to comment if they were happy with it.
I've messaged Armor Factory asking if I could get an unpainted shield, no reply yet.

Honestly, if someone here owned the masterworks shield, I'd say document all the stats on that one and go to a fabrication shop to see how much a run of ten of these would cost. Seeing how a truly accurate shield has yet to be offered, I think it'd be a hot item.

I’ve tried. Shops will do everything except the machined star. I’ve gone to at least 8 and they all refuse that

I bet you are right. I know that I would be interested.

But yes agree. Hot and coveted item

What if the star section was a separate machined plate like this metal Chinese version.
Then, for the backside, you have a whole shield backing that covers the mounted plate section - does that make sense?

Yeah that would probably work. I wonder why it is so hard to machine the star into the shield itself. The studio probably did it right?

I wouldnt doubt if the real shields were made the way I described. Perhaps the backside was a completely separate spun panel. I'm not a fabricator, so I can only theorize how something like this can be manufactured. I would like to see someone step up to the plate and really go for 100% accuracy.

Did you ever hear back from armor factory about your unpainted question?

Yeah.
That’s how the 22” versions are made that are on eBay- we just need a 25 or 26” version...

The newest version of that shield that’s on eBay (from cosplayer senior I think) is about screen accurate size (60cm/~24”). I picked up the older ~22” version and am in the process of repainting it now.

I've spent a long time staring at reference pictures asking myself this too, and based on what I've seen of the screen used props/official replicas here's my best guess: (see my crude cross section I made in ms paint haha)

Main thing that gives way this "plug" design is the second groove from the middle in the back of all official shields has a gap that's wider than the rest, which leads me to believe that the center blue/star section is a separate piece that's secured to the rest of the rings with adhesive as well as the bracket itself.

(Note: without actually having seen the masterworks shield in person, I can assume that even those shields aren't 100% spun/machined metal because it looks like the backs of those are cast from an original hero prop, as with the efx shields)

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Been looking on and off for a few years for someone that makes an accurate shield. I'm with you guys. I'm so surprised considering how popular this prop is that it hasn't been done accurately yet. Glad to see I'm not the only one interested in one. I would've jumped on that Relicmaker shield if I had been active at the time.

No. His star isn’t grooved into the shield. It’s glued on top like all others

Is that not accurate for the First Avenger shield? I don't know about the sequels but didn't the FA hero shield have a separate piece star?

I've read older RPF threads where I think Chris Fields mentioned that the original prop is indeed separate pieces like this.

Btw, anyone know what happened to Chris?

The first avenger shield had the star section machined in. As with all the props.
It’s clearly visible in any photo of it.
There might have been a stunt shield with the star glued on. But the hero prop is what we salivate after.

Is there is an interest of 10 or more buyers willing to pay several thousand for the shield, then relicmaker may be willing to do another run if he can still get the tooling done with his vendors.

I'd be willing to pay if, and only if, the quality and design is precisely on par with the Masterworks shield MINUS the claw marks.
Had they released a Masterworks edition sans the claw Mark's, this would of been a piece I would of invested in without question.

I don't know about paying several thousand myself but I would expect them to at least cost in the 1-1.5k range like the first run which I certainly would be in for.

I agree. Several thousand would be to rich for my blood, but the 1-1.5k range would be more doable. Especially if you consider that the replica would not have to come with all the extra's that the Masterworks version came with. That Pelican case alone had to be pretty expensive....awesome but expensive.

My understanding is that this version would by on par with the Masterworks shield sans the claw marks or simulated damage. I am not sure about the case though.
