An RPF Open Source 5 ft Millennium Falcon Build/Reference Thread. All Are Welcome

I hate to ask, but do any of you Falcon builders recognize this part, # 19. Maybe you came across it in searching though various kits. I have my own thread for this search but so far no hits on it. It's reminds me of an axle of some kind. I'm building it for printing, but would like to have the real thing, ; )

P.S. It's for the Galactica BTW. Forgot to mention that, lol. You can put any leads in the thread below, so we don't clog up this one, ; )

"Looks like" a Kettenkrad pipe.

Does the freezer trick work for model glue (ie. Testors tube cement, Tamiya Extra Thin) on these kits, or is it just CA glue that can cleanly 'snap' apart after being in the freezer? There are a couple partially built kits listed locally that would make great adds to my Falcon stash that I've been holding off on because of this issue.

I think it only works with CA glues. I've heard some use low heat for other types of glue, but I can't confirm that.

Don't know if this helps...

When I was a kid (like 50 years ago) I had the Aurora Godzilla model with the glow-in-the-dark parts.

It was glued with Testors red tube glue (was there anything else, back then?).

I had put the head near a light bulb to 'charge' it up.

When I picked up the model, I found that the heat from the bulb softened the glue to where I was able to pull the head off.

I could also stick the head back on, and when cool, it was glued solid again.

Upon this discovery, Godzilla became my 'stash' keeper for some time.

Of course, Godzilla's head was a pretty beefy part. Not sure how the heat would work on smaller, more delicate parts.

Also, I've had pretty good luck using Easy-off (yes the oven cleaner) to get paint off of plastic. I'd try it on a piece you don't care about just to be sure. They're always changing the make up of products.

Just double checking here. The circled part gets cut off so that the part fits back in they grey piece right? I know the grey is the wrong piece. Just the first I grabbed. Thanks.

I know there was a post somewhere regarding the Amt 57 Chevy. Do we need any parts from the older kit. I know the chassis is the same in the newer one, but are there any other parts used on the 5 footer ?
