Surprised to see no one else wanting the textured/haircell option. Here is the production made shell PropStore auctioned off. You can see the texture in the inside.
Yeah, from what I've seen, a lot of the rotj helmets used textured ABS.
In case people got the wrong idea from my first post, the texture will be inwards facing and not seen on the outside of the helmet like that propstore helmet.
While it may be more accurate, it's a detail that's hidden inside the helmet and won't be seen so it's not a priority for me.
In terms of glueing the halves together I'm thinking the gloss will have a better hold once they're sanded down and have the sanded ABS tab attached. In my experience, having adhered similar haircell textured plastics together, they didn't have as strong a bond as two smooth plastics that have been sanded and stuck together due to the slight uneven texture.
Add in the fact that I'm getting two kits, I'm trying to keep my costs down.

No worries, man. I'm keen on seeing it when you get the haircell in.
Sorry for the confusion, i put you down for the last 3 i'll have gloss plastic to produce. Moving forward the offering will be exclusively textured ABS.
Update:
I've found a new supplier for the white haircell ABS, and can get it for a similar price to the gloss ABS from the last run so have reduced the price of that option accordingly. I have ordered a sheet and will send some photos of the texture once I receive it to make comparison against the propstore photo.

Yes, Just need to put together a new set of moulds.

I'm waiting until this current semester finishes up before getting started on it.
