Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

I don't have time trust me. I've been building this since early February... so it's been 7 months. I work full time during the week and have little time on the weekend and maybe a couple hours 1 or 2 times a week. I wish I had more time. I'm starting to get stressed about the Halloween deadline as a matter of a fact.

very inspiring work jordan.. i know what you mean im stressin also 3 months turned into 2 months till the deadline and its getting tougher and tougher to make time.. at least your done with all your pieces.. great work and can't wait to see more painted pieces.. so your not gonna put any type of clear?

The paint I am using is glossy so clear coating is not necessary. Thanks... Hope to make some progress this weekend.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

Okay, I'm tired of waiting! Need update to boost motivation to continue own build...

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

I promise to get some progress pics soon. Been bustin my ass to get this to a semi-wearable suit for Halloween. I won't have everything I want done by then but it'll be good enough for Halloween, lol. I would love to mold and cast the pieces in plastic when all is said and done but who knows.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

What do you mean "semi-wearable"..... its already awesome! Whats missing "the ability to actually fly".

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

This is totally awsome dude. I was sort of happy with mine then I sw this. Does this happen to anyone else? You see one and think, yeah i can do that then you see something like this and think hmmm maybe I can't. I'm really hoping i can sort out a good paint job as that will be the only thing that can save mine i think.

Awsome job dude, blows you old one well out of the water.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

so do you print the pep file and use them as outlines onto the foam?

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

Just like you all to know that I am not dead and the costume is still on. I have just been busy lately and have been trying my best to get this thing together enough to wear Halloween and I hope to make improvements there after for DC next year.

I will post pics as soon as I get enough of it done to put on. I don't want to show half paint things, etc.

Thanks for staying with me guys.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

ah good to know:)... you got me worried there for a while...:D

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

Firstly- I read from page 1 to about 15 and then skipped to the end :)
jaw dropping awesome.
I will be keeping tabs on you wearing it to D*C next year so I can get my picture taken with you.
At the risk of sounding idiotic, how do you put it on?
Is it just lots of layers of velcro straps?

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

Thanks! I will see you there.

Everyone does things a bit differently... hopefully this isn't too wordy. But this is my plan/it's already done.

Neck fastens with rare earth magnets.

Chest/back and collar piece as well as first tier of abs is one piece that slips over my head like a shirt.

Arms are forearm, elbow, and bicep with double hinge point on arms.. these slide on.

Inner ribbed wrist piece is velcro and force fits and holds the arm up in a good spot.

Gauntlets are 3d printed and just slip on.. same with fingers.

Ab section is connected with rare earth magnets and just slips on like a mid piece.. gurdle type thing. It tucks slightly under the chest/back.

Cod piece just slips on like a pair of underwear lol

Legs are comprised of shin, thigh, thigh extension and hip pod. Those just slip on and are not attached or hinge to anything else.

Boots are slipped over a pair of work boots with a decent heal to bring my 6'2" stature closer to 6'4" plus helmet adding another couple of inches so like 6'6" 6'7" when Im wearing it.

Legs stay on from vertical fit.. of it resting on boot.. etc. trust me it works, I've already done tests.

Helmet does up like others.. back plate comes off. Faceplate comes off. All held with rare earth magnets.

Hope this helps.

Under all this will be compression gear with the elbows painting gold and knees painted silver to get a real cohesive look.

Cheers!

Brilliant.
What holds the arm pieces up? are they attached to the chest piece?
