The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

That video is about a year old. How much of it is still applicable?
All of it, it leads up to update #16 in Feb 2022. Not only does it summarize all the updates, but it goes into detail about the manufacturing process. Very interesting, if you have been following this and don't recall all the detail from the emailed updates. It's 27 minuets but I found it to be worth my time.

Give it a thumbs up, the guy deserves it.

Nice presentation….. in depth summary of the progress and updates of the Wand Tricorder, as of Feb 2023.

I applaud the video maker :)

Look…..just like others here…..enough hype. I’m just waiting to get a copy when ever it’s released.

I’m projecting a price increase given inflation, supply and demand, ROI.

If when I ever get it…..and for whatever reasons….if it malfunctions mechanically, or shorts out electronically ……of course I’ll be pissed due to the wait and probable higher cost than projected……

Causing me to do the following

I’ll have to put an ashcan or cherry bomb or M80 or 1/4 stick of dynamite in the compartment….and well yes, as you might guess….

And then I’ll send back all the bits and pieces that can be found…….with just a single sentence note…. “Thanks For Nothing”…

It better work correctly as hyped……imo.

Peace

The next Star Trek prop is coming from The Wand Company and I am super GEEKED about it! They're finally doing a TOS Tricorder! This news couldn't come at a better time since I've been sniffing around ebay, trying to pick up an MR version for less than $1,000, which is not an easy task...

Anyway, I have the MR and TWC versions of the Phaser and Communicator and I've been very impressed at TWC quality in comparison. For the money, TWC offers some damn good replicas.

Here's the announcement with a link to receive updates...

Thanks for info, I will be going for one of these.
I’ve been caught up in Star Wars collecting for few years now and missed out on their communicator and phaser, so now on lookout for those.
Seen a few for sale new, my concern is if they are new would this affect the battery if they have lay uncharged for few years ?

Even charging them every six months does always work. My Wand 10th Doctor Sonic and one of my Wand Phasers no longer hold a charge even though I charged them every six months. I can't say it enough times, I hate rechargeable batteries and don't even get me started on the ones where it is next to impossible to either change them or find replacements.

Hopefully the Tricorder has a removable rechargeable battery and not a hardwired in battery or circuit board mounted battery. That would be an un-user friendly design flaw….imo

I thought everyone here would be following The Wand Company Tricorder Blog. There is access to a replaceable power cell.

Please, let that blue object in the base be an owner-replaceable power cell. Best. Mike.

Thanks for the video, I was trying to remember the smoking tricorder scene from Arena, because that tricorder was just sold on Auction for $90K and they mentioned the burn marks from the smoke bomb.

Not being able to replace the battery on the Wand phaser has always been a nagging concern, I dread the day they don;t charge up any more. I wish they would produce a new Phaser 1 with a replaceable battery that is compatible with the older phasers. I think the P1 would sell well, people that don't have the older phaser would buy it and those with the older phasers would buy it too, so they can have one with a replaceable battery.

It mihgt be a quick and cheap run since they might be able to use the molds form the original phaser and just modify it a bit.

Yes I’m aware of the auction…thanx!

I posted it in the previous page 62.

You can still replay the bidding……for the WOW…shock factor…..like a Star Trek repeat :)

Peace

NASA uses "nominal" as well.

94.5%…the percentage of the U.S. population who would need to look up what the word “Nominal” describes…

(That’s not intended to be a comment against using the word in the Tricorder display…it’s commentary regarding our collective vocabulary...or lack thereof...and I’m a grumpy old man.)
