Yeah… and if you look closely you will see that’s a fiberglass mid grade.

If it had the same sensor functionality as the bottom of the Apple Watch, you could press the bottom of the scanner flush against the skin and get all the same/similar Apple medical functions. Given that the scanner is quite a bit bigger than an Apple watch, maybe larger and less sophisticated (and cheaper!) components could be used.
Some fodder for discussion. I note that, somewhat recently (23 Jun), Chris had this to say about the Tricorder:
I find Chris' qualifier "at present" to be quite intriguing and exciting. I seem to recall Chris previously saying (quite a while ago now) something to the effect that the software/programming for playing video was not something they could do, or afford to include, in the production of the Tricorder. But it sounds like the *capacity* for such functionality may exist. As such, it may be that some after market mod (physical or software wise) may give the Tricorder video playback functionality. In other words, either TWC or some 'enterprising' third party may offer instructions on how to adapt the Tricorder so as to play video.
Given Chris' comment, my reduced pixel versions of the entire TOS Trek series now await their ultimate home in the Tricorder.

I was hoping to see a Wand booth at Comic-Con this year…….but nada, zilch, zero
I was going to cosplay a new Star Trek costume from TOS S1E1…….but I got toooooo fat from the time I bought it to the time I needed to wear it……so I had to take a pass

Mark Whiting does the Communicators and does it in batches……sometimes slightly different due to supplies of parts…..also prices have gradually increased through the years. I bought awhile back.
