The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

We need data to

Good idea but im not sure how putting one on top will work. It won't be on anything that rotates so will just be static.

Yes it will be static…..just like it will be static if you turn off the moire anyway….at least it will be brighter by your determination.

Btw….I edited my previous post.

On the topic of accurate straps…

Years ago, when I was a member of the now-defunct The Trek Prop Zone (TPZ) a member produced a run of what were supposed to be accurate Season One Wah Chang Hero Straps…

These were a bit too thick, which is usually the case when straps of this type have been offered, in the past.

For the Season 1 style of Leather straps I ordered……These are the choices available for width and thickness of what I ordered (which ultimately turned out to be a qty. 2 since I have 2 Tricorder’s)…. Great price $11.66 per strap at that particular width and thickness. TWC thickness is 2.4mm. If too thick…I’ll simply shave (skiving) the leather down to fit just for the portion of strap that needs to be going through the side’s opening. No one will ever see the shaved portions.

The length 55” to 60” is their choice since cutting straps from hide is variable from where on the hide is cut. TWC length is 1350mm = 53.15 inches. So the strap offered at its minimum length of 55 inches is more than TWC. I suppose you can always call them and request a length closer to or at the 60” if need be.

Mine just arrived via UPS. Turned it on briefly to start learning some of the functions (translation: played with it). Now it's charging.

Everything seemed to be working. The hood indents hold on their own, until you press any buttons, as other have said. Otherwise I love it. I now have a full (Wand) landing party set.

You're lucky! That was fast. Certainly faster than Amazon's processing and shipping of mine (which was Authorized back on the 15th, as opposed to your 17th Authorization). Currently, it says it has "left an Amazon facility" but has yet to be delivered into the hands of USPS in Arizona (as was the supposed "plan"). Of course, Amazon still shows "Sunday" (aka "Tomorrow" as it alternatively lists in a couple places) as the supposed delivery date. However, USPS itself lists the delivery date as "Unknown" since it doesn't have the package in its hands yet. So we'll see what happens.

UPDATE: Same day, 10:30am PST - Looks like Amazon scrapped its original "plan" to transfer the package to USPS in Arizona. Now Amazon's site declares that, at 10:12am PST: "Package arrived at an Amazon facility. Jurupa Valley, CA US". (That's a nearly five hour trip by car, which took Amazon nearly 14 hours to make.) So the package is STILL with Amazon and hasn't even made it within (the massive) LA County yet.

Guess the Tricorder is on a 'Magical Mystery Tour'. Who knows where it will go next, with whom, or when.

I miss The Trek Prop Zone. All of those great old posts and threads just gone. Sad.

Yeah, the logs are quite loud, including the personal logs if you record them. And yes they're absolutely louder than the scanner sound, but that's loud enough that my wife complained about it. And she's a Navy brat who never complains about anything.
Yes. I lowered the volume on my Tric to about 25% level and it is much easier on the ears.

My journey to finding the Season 1 style leather strap…..the search was not easy. As mentioned by someone…it’s a hard to find strap….I agree.

After fruitless searching …it dawned on me that camera cases, and cameras used to have that style of straps….so I wanted to find if they were still being sold. Sure enough I found this…..which lead me to a Horween Chomexel leather search for straps, which lead me to buckleguy.com…..that’s my story and I’m sticking to it ;)

Does the Leica come as a ‘gift with strap purchase’? lol

Hey….is anybody still suffering from S.P.S. (Scanner Popping Syndrome)? Or perhaps you’ve now been assimilated and desensitized by now…. :)
