The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

It's not an issue with the device. It's because there's a speaker behind it. It's mildly annoying, though.

The straps on the tricorder are terrible, though. You WILL crease them. It just takes a few minutes of it resting a certain way for it to permanently crease. I've opted to use a velcro tie in order to keep the strap looped without forming sharp angles. However, if you let the strap ends (near the tricorder) rest at any angle that isn't going completely up, it WILL crease.

Fortunately the strap is removable (go watch the 'tear down' video on Youtube). So you can replace it if the creasing eventually leads to cracks in the fake leather. I would probably remove the strap as soon as you get it and store it curled up and use a custom leather strap for display/cosplay purposes.

The leatherette case is very nice, though.

Yeah, uh, dude, about Godot...
What, he got one already?

Soooooo ... Just quickly going back to the trikes ship problems, unless Arne Darvin has been up to his tricks again and tribbles have been exploding all over the place, is there any reason this issue would cause the dilithium crystals and the shields to fail and put hull integrity at critical?

The bigger question is why is LCARS being used….isn’t that a Next Generation thing? Unless I missed any mention of LCARS in any dialogue in the 3 seasons of STTOS.

From the gooooog

…“In the Star Trek fictional universe, LCARS (/ˈɛlkɑːrz/; an acronym for Library Computer Access/Retrieval System) is a computer operating system. Within Star Trek chronology, the term was first used in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series.”….

Star Trek The Original Series 1966 …… Next Generation 1987.

Add that to the growing list of TWC blunders…..Mixing of two series? That’s just Wrong….imo.

Whaaa Whaaa Cheng. You’re right, a static grey screen that did nothing would be better.

Curse TWC for using something we’re familiar with in their tricorder.

For that matter, did the TOS Enterprise use screens or shields? James T, or James R?

Is there no end to nit picking this thing?

A lot of people have been asking about Easter Eggs. One thing to keep in mind is that most of the Enterprise Alert screens are meant to be jokes or humorous. Especially after TWC ask the Trek community which alerts they’d like to see. And it looks like they pretty much used everything they received back… typos and all. I don’t think this part of the Tricorder’s function is something to be examined so closely or be picked apart. Besides, the ship’s status being reported through the tricorder is something never mentioned on the show in the first place, so this is an extra.

Just my opinion.

And you are so right…..this is a forum based on opinions….some people will agree and some people won’t, god knows I post quite a bit of imo’s… ;)

If this forum had the old “Ignore” feature…..I’d be ignored several times over :)

Let's see. The guy from TNG found a time ship, went to TNG, gathered all kinds of tech objects, and was going to travel home to the past and claim he invented all those tech items. Looks like this Tricorder is from a Universe where he succeeded. So he invented a TOS tricorder with LCARS.

While the term ’LCARS’ was first used in TNG to name the Enterprise's OS is there anything in Star Trek canon that says that the ‘LCARS’ system wasn’t the name of the OS the TOS Enterprise used, it just wasn’t ever named in the original series? ‘Library Computer Access/Retrieval System’ is a relatively generic description that can easily apply to the computer systems from both eras.

Just like Kahn knowing Chekov. Just because WE didn’t see him in Space Seed, it doesn’t mean Chekov wasn’t on the ship.

Suuuuuuure I’m right ;)

Ohhhhh but it could do something….IF, TWC used grey Magic Slate for the screen display…..one could draw all sorts of things, and erase at will, no less :) …..yep it will do nothing and be static until one plays with it…. ;)
