I was able to order on 6/26 when the first Amazon US stock became available, and they delivered it on Sunday which was within the original estimated delivery range.
The box came Sunday morning just as I was having my coffee, so I grabbed my reading glasses and sat down at the kitchen table, to read the instructions and try it out. The instructions are very detailed and overly simplified. I thought it was going to be complex and take a while to get the hang of everything, but I was wrong. The packaging was immaculate, even the outer box. Everything is working perfectly, one of the Tricorders right most button is a little easier to click and more a little more responsive, other than that all was perfect.
I don't plan on switching discs because I think its something that could eventually break or stop working, I am just going to use the disc override in the menu.
I got my Master Replicas Tricorder out for comparison, put batteries in it for the first time in maybe 10 years, 6 AAA's, how times have changed.
Fit and finish between the two is about the same, they are about the same size and weight, with the MR being slightly wider at the top, the wand data disc section looks much better, for obvious reasons.
The MR came with a nice display case, and basic controls, screen on/off. Moire on/off and a scanning sound.
The Wand has a nice display stand and is packed to the brim with real world features and functions.
The MR Tricorder was $350 when it was released in 2003, which translates into $611 in today's money.
(I'll add some comparison pictures to this post)
