The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

If I were younger and a cosplayer I may have thought it were a good idea to have a backup. But I'm in my 50's. Im in great shape and all but time will eventually catch up, even with me sadly... Lol. By the time I would ever need a backup I would be like 80 years old.

This is mostly for display. If I thought it would be worth like 2k In a few years.. maybe. But it won't be. Maybe in 30 years but I shall be dead or close to it. I'm a realist about these matters....;)
I'm closer to it .

I had gotten an invite for each of the last two restocks, but missed out.
This morning, I happened to refresh the Wand Co. page and the Tricorder popped up. Got mine ordered (1).
I haven't received an invite for this batch.
An hour later, out of stock, again.
Man, the added tarriff hurt. I had already rationalized the $300.
But, already owning the Phaser and Communicator, I was kind of commited.

Yeah I think it was first $299 but they raised it to $350 last year, well before the tariffs. I was ok with $350 but almost didn't buy at $415. So here we are at $116 more than what I initially thought I would be spending. Lol As I have said before I have seen everyone post all their pictures using it I'm already bored with it and doubt I will even play with it much. When I got my communicator I think I dabbled with it for about 10 minutes. It's been packed away since then.

That’s what I’ve been saying all along. I’m going to wait until the price drops before buying one. If it doesn’t, I simply won’t get one.

I was able to order on 6/26 when the first Amazon US stock became available, and they delivered it on Sunday which was within the original estimated delivery range.

The box came Sunday morning just as I was having my coffee, so I grabbed my reading glasses and sat down at the kitchen table, to read the instructions and try it out. The instructions are very detailed and overly simplified. I thought it was going to be complex and take a while to get the hang of everything, but I was wrong. The packaging was immaculate, even the outer box. Everything is working perfectly, one of the Tricorders right most button is a little easier to click and more a little more responsive, other than that all was perfect.

I don't plan on switching discs because I think its something that could eventually break or stop working, I am just going to use the disc override in the menu.

I got my Master Replicas Tricorder out for comparison, put batteries in it for the first time in maybe 10 years, 6 AAA's, how times have changed.

Fit and finish between the two is about the same, they are about the same size and weight, with the MR being slightly wider at the top, the wand data disc section looks much better, for obvious reasons.

The MR came with a nice display case, and basic controls, screen on/off. Moire on/off and a scanning sound.

The Wand has a nice display stand and is packed to the brim with real world features and functions.

The MR Tricorder was $350 when it was released in 2003, which translates into $611 in today's money.

(I'll add some comparison pictures to this post)

Depending on what happens on the 9th or Aug. 1st those tariffs could be even higher and revert back to April .

And that's not adding in Tax to the total.

As of today….I’m officially off the Wand spam…..to buy.

I already have two from the Oooops Released Batch.

I don’t need more….and certainly not at the higher price.

I’ll continue to monitor this thread only because no one had (including myself) started a new thread for those that have their Tricorder’s in hand and are evaluating, critiquing, and feedbacking the Tricorder’s. All of that information is and has been on this thread instead. At this point, it’s probably pointless to start a new thread and try to transfer all that info from this thread…if you get my meaning.

So here, on this thread…. I’ll continue to see what others are finding about their Tricorder’s ‘after’ they’ve already received them.

Peace
