The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

So I haven't had a chance to get the leather stitched yet but I decided to put the strap on as is for now. It's much better as the leatherette that it comes with was starting to break already. I don't know why wand didn't just put leather on as it's not expensive but there's obviously a reason.

Where was it breaking ?

I bought 20 USB-C covers on Amazon for less than 5 bucks. You can barely see the port when the cover is installed. It’s good they send 20 because the little bastards are easy to lose.

Something like this would have been nice for TWC to design in….basically a dust cap that would be tethered through the connector wall/mounting face and hard to loose….

Where it feeds into the tricorder below the screw.

Here’s the fix for that (correct sizes needed of course)….since TWC was to lazy to design a grommet eyelet onto the strap holes…at a possible point of wear and tear.

Good idea but not what I meant. It's breaking below the side panel screw where it feeds into the trike.

I used a hole punch for the leather strap and used a second small piece to reinforce where the screw goes through.

What the hell??? My strap is nothing like that. It’s finished on both sides and stitched.

Go back to this post:

You'll see that he got a new, real leather strap made (which he hasn't yet gotten stitched). That's what you're looking at in his photos and why its different from your own. (Presumably the 'cracking' seen on the outside of your strap on your first photo, and on the inside of your strap on your second photo, is what he is referencing and one of the reasons he got a new one that wasn't "leatherette")

Oh… damn! I was thinking TWC was using different straps.

Thanks for clarifying. I did miss that post.

Oh and on mine those are just wrinkles, the surface isn’t split open (yet).

This canned message isn't helping out either. It's pissing off people anyway . I bet people won't want to buy any other Trek products from them in the future due to this debacle .
I’m not sure what the debacle is. They did not take any money up front. They owe nothing to any collector. They are not delivering a sub par product. Most reviews I’ve seen the buyers seem very happy.

The only problem is they are having issues getting these onto the hands of collectors fast enough.

People need to calm down. Seriously, this is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in this hobby. People are losing their minds for a Tricorder replica. A replica they will no doubt get if they can just learn patience.
