Ruh-Ro!
Hopefully someone in the US will get an invite and verify the total cost.
Request granted.Oops, it's spelled Jefferies.
(And they weren't called that until TNG, at least on screen.)
I submit this as the geekiest/nitpickiest post of the thread.
They just included them so you could put your scanner in it if you had one and wanted to. The original dividers were flat at the top and would not allow a scanner to fit, so they changed it midway through design.Well mine is arriving tomorrow! As an old TOS fan it's something you just have to get...
But saw that there a brackets included to hold the medical scanner, any one know more?
I asked Andrew Stockdale how he got the measurements so accurate for the scanner holder, and he explained that he researched the scanner with industry contacts at a point when the plan was to produce a scanner as a future accessory. That plan was abandoned, but the scanner holder remained for those of us with accurate scanners. They just included them so you could put your scanner in it if you had one and wanted to. The original dividers were flat at the top and would not allow a scanner to fit, so they changed it midway through design.
I wouldn't read into it that it means they have plans to make a scanner (I HOPE they do, but not counting on it).
Well, Chris has said the US price with the 30% tariffs will be $415. The highest US state sales tax is just below 10%. So that will make it $456.50.Hopefully someone in the US will get an invite and verify the total cost.
UK buyers were paying $435 from the start anyway when you convert the £325 we paid to USD even when the Tricorders were in the UK depot.Yeah those of us in the US will be paying more now. Unless you bought from the UK without an invite. Which a few sneaky individuals did of course ..lol
Not sure what shipping will be through Amazon. But it's now $415 rather than 350. So we are looking at $439 before shipping. Just the way it is.
So my question would be... WHERE DID YOU GET THE SCANNER?
Can the door inside be modified to hold the scanner upright like it's supposed to be? Is there enough room for that modification? So to those talking about the scanner and the dividers. There are 3 dividers and 3 slots, 1 single divider and 2 for the scanner, larger and smaller end.
My scanner fits perfectly in there and the door closes with no "catching" issues but obviously when you tilt or angle the tricorder it can roll out towards the back and I've had a door stuck incident where the scanner has fallen in between the dividers.
Additionally I had to file a little bit off the dividers clip points as it felt a bit too tight for my liking. I was worried the dividers may snap inserting and removing them and you could visibly see the back of the storage tray bend when they were inserted. Better safe than sorry I guess.
The shape of the compartment is the same shape as the dividers so as you can see its a little awkward but from what I can see the inner back and base of the tricorder isn't molded to mimic the shape of the compartment itself ... so if you were to replace the inner compartment and attach a more square one to the door it shouldn't inhibit the door opening/closing.Can the door inside be modified to hold the scanner upright like it's supposed to be? I purchased it from a collector some years ago. It's a D Stines and was made based off measurements from the original and includes sound and rotation. So my question would be... WHERE DID YOU GET THE SCANNER?
That is good to know. Once I get mine I may look into doing it.The shape of the compartment is the same shape as the dividers so as you can see its a little awkward but from what I can see the inner back and base of the tricorder isn't molded to mimic the shape of the compartment itself ... so if you were to replace the inner compartment and attach a more square one to the door it shouldn't inhibit the door opening/closing.
The 3rd divider can be used to hold the scanner snugly in the cradle. But yes… mine has rolled out a couple of times too when holding the Tricorder at an angle or horizontally. Don’t forget to take the scanner out when you calibrate the compass. The shape of the compartment is the same shape as the dividers so as you can see its a little awkward but from what I can see the inner back and base of the tricorder isn't molded to mimic the shape of the compartment itself ... so if you were to replace the inner compartment and attach a more square one to the door it shouldn't inhibit the door opening/closing.
