The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

I don't think so. Several people yesterday (including me) successfully ordered one without a link. Also, Chris has disclosed (posted previously above) that while they asked Amazon to implement an invitation-only listing, Amazon turned them down because they only offer that to very large sellers moving high volumes and fulfilling through Amazon. It's not available for third-party setups like Wand.

There should be plenty eventually is all that really matters. I won't look at videos, save some of the fun for delivery day.

So I understand, "while they asked Amazon to implement an invitation-only listing, Amazon turned them down because they only offer that to very large sellers moving high volumes and fulfilling through Amazon. It's not available for third-party setups like Wand." So how long ago was this known? If "some" knew there really was no line we all needed to be standing in, maybe we all could have been trying to be "the first on our block".

Chris only made this known today. They were hoping to manage the rollout as much as possible, given that many of us signed up for the updates and to be informed of when it would be on sale. Unfortunately, Amazon wouldn't play ball with them, and they can't set up their own web store for this because sales taxes in the US vary from state to state, and in many cases, county to county--that's just to complex for a company of their small size to deal with.

Don't worry, more inventory is coming, everyone who wants one will get a tricorder.

BUMMER the videos are private! I wanted to see some Tricorder unboxings! Well at least the last video works! :)

They weren't private earlier. Possibly the one guy changed his settings. Sorry about that. I'm planning a very nice one, but my unit won't arrive till 5/8, and with my work demands it may be a few days before I can post it. And by then, people might be sick of tricorder unboxing videos anyway. :p

So for my own education I when back to review where I missed the critical ordering information. On March 29, 2025 we receive; " as further waves arrive and we load more stock into Amazon, we will be continuously monitoring the Amazon UK Tricorder listing to see when the stock becomes available to order again. The stock’s availability will then automatically trigger a new “invitation to purchase” email, which will be sent to the next group of registrants."

So Amazon gets the stock and lists it. TWC, just like all of us, are "monitoring the Amazon UK Tricorder listing". If "we" see the listing we can order. If TWC sees the listing they send out emails to the last two groups they already notified plus the next new group. So then some get the email, use the (unnecessary) link to go to Amazon UK and see if there are any left in the most recent wave, and order.

Can I also assume that Amazon UK will not enforce a "strict order limit of two" since this request is coming from a small business partner?

I've seen some people on facebook say they went through the order process and got a message saying it can't be shipped to the US or something like that. Feeling lucky you got in and then BAM!!! like a kick to the Mc-nuggets.
Reminds me, I actually have a picture of a Mc-scrotum here,

Good question. I have no idea whether the limit of two is enforceable. Somebody will have to try and order three and see what happens. But Chris was specifically talking about the ability to have an invitation-only listing and didn't mention the ability to impose a purchase limit. I know that one guy who posts a lot on FB (Michael Bastraw) did say he was able to order two, but that's all I know.

Again, I'd say just keep checking the listing.

Once the tariffs go into effect and start getting charged on Amazon, I strongly doubt that scalpers will be a problem. The tariffs are pretty high, and when they come down again, scalpers would be stuck with expensive inventory while the product was still available for $350 US.

And honestly, I think the scalpers thing is exaggerated. You only see occasional listings on fleabay, and they move very, very slowly if at all.

These same MR tricorder listings have been up on fleabay forever, except the middle one, a guy I know for a fact is facing financial hardship and selling off significant parts of his collection:

$350 US? I assume that is GBP

That's the UK price with VAT added. When it's available for shipping to the US, you get £270, which is roughly $350-$360, depending on the exchange rate. They covered this in the March announcement email:

The final price, although slightly higher than we had initially envisaged, will be the $350 USD that we most recently suggested in our newsletter. On the Amazon UK listing, the price will be shown as £324 GBP. This price includes VAT for our UK customers.

Here's how it shows when you order from the US:

I gotta say, I haven't had this much fun in an RPF thread in a long time. You guys have made the wait and all the drama quite entertaining.
With nothing better to do while waiting for these to arrive, there have been some really creative and funny comments.
