The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

After finishing everything I wanted to do in Red Dead 2, I finally moved on. (Still have the trophy to get 70 gold metals, and survive like 18 bears attacks. Something for the future)
I also got a shelf from yard sell, to which I refinished it and put it up for my Metal Gear Solid display.
Had to make stands for the characters so they wouldn't fall over.
Sadly, can't find the Liquid Snake I had, and never had Sniper Wolf. Maybe someday I'll find them to buy.

And then a few days ago, decided to hook up the Sega Genesis and play Jungle Strike, since we had been talking about it recently.

Definitely not the easiest game, and the controller kept messing up, and trying to mess with the cord, the game froze a few times. At least it had a password feature.
Ended up beating it. Let the credits play out...love that it asked if you are still there.

The End....or is it?
Nope, as they made three more games.

Then wanted to play Urban Strike, to which I had the SNES version, which I remember ran really slow....
But going through my games....found I owned both versions. Wow....I absolutely DO NOT remember buying the Sega version. Playing that now. It runs much smoother.

I totally forgot about the NYC level, in which a terrorist uses a laser to blow a hole into the side of the World Trade building.
Also, the game came out in 1994, but it takes place in 2001. Very weird indeed.
I can only imagine what the game creators thought on 9-11.

Seeing those Metal Gear figures reminds me of how disappointed I still am that Kotobukiya never made a good line of figures from the game. I didn't like their Sniper Wolf figure and I think I passed on the original action figure as well. I know I have the Snake and Meryl action figures somewhere packed away. Possibly Fortune as well from the equally disappointing Metal Gear Solid 2 (except for the opening). She had a really good character design but I remember was a bit of an in joke like the rest of the game.

I saw a few Metal Gear items recently. I know I saved them somewhere to check out. I'll see if I can find them.

In a MGS group on FB, you'd be surprised with how many LOVE the 2nd game the most.

Probably a good thing I'm not on Facebook then. I would get into arguments over the game. I thought the opening was great. Then the twist happened. I do like the music though and I have that making of / document game.

The original MGS is a classic. Even more so if you grew up on the NES Metal Gear games.

The 2nd game was kind of, in a weird way, a remix of the first. With Revolver Oceot even saying the whole setup was meant as a reenactment towards Shadow Moses.
The main part of things being AI, and it messing up after they give it the virus towards the end was a bit interesting. As that was way ahead of its time, but we're only now seeing stuff like that happen.
I still enjoy 3 and 4 the most, and hoping 3, now rebranded as Delta, can live up to the original 3rd game.

MGS2 is just too much of an in joke to me. After playing the first MGS, you really expect a great sequel with that end credits teaser. And the first segment of Part 2 is amazing. Then they decide to go on that strange tangent for some reason I can't remember right now. It's one of those games I played through I think twice or a third time to really get it because I didn't want to dislike the game. I played that opening a bunch though, it's still really good.

I'm behind on a few Metal Gear Solid games. MGS3 is good but also has some iffy parts. It kind of made up for MGS2 to me. I'll play Delta but not at full price. I don't like what Konami did to a few of it's creators including Kojima. These fan posters for MGS3 was one of the things I mentioned in the post above that I saw recently.

I've played 3 well over 50 times.
Its perfect to me.
But yeah, don't like what happened between Konami and Kojima.

I probably played the last motorcycle action / chase part of MGS3 50+ if not more times. It's a really well made on par with the opening of MGS2.

By the way, I just remembered how much I wanted to like MGS2 that I owned the Japanese limited box set of the game. I really expected it to be one of the greatest games. I forgot that I even owned it. I think I might have the Japanese artbook packed away somewhere.

I just don't like some of the crude if not childish humor in MGS3. I assume it's going to be removed or reworked better in Delta. I know I have the demo of MGS3 on my 3DS. I was curious about the 3D but couldn't bring myself to even think about getting the full game to play on that small screen even though I have the final New 3DS XL model.

I think I saw a preview of upcoming MGS3 figures. We should know more in the coming days between San Diego Comic Con and the Wonder Festival in Japan.

I know just today there was a teaser for a figure of Ryu from the NES Ninja Gaiden.

After beating Urban Strike, started playing Sea of Stars, as I bought it in sale like 2 months ago.
Has a big influence of Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, and the Final Fanatsy games.
About 4 hour in so far.

I also saw that Final Fantasy 16 was on sale at Amazon for $25, so I went ahead and got it, and it came in today, but it's going to have to wait for now.
