The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

No hype for the next Resident Evil?

Especially since a new movie is in the works as well and it's going to be directed by the guy that made Barbarian. That's a movie people should watch without seeing a trailer or knowing anything. But the director should be able to make a good Resident Evil movie. But then, I thought it was impossible to mess up with the last Resident Evil movie and they did.

Essentially a TRON level pack for Hades? Could be fun.
Just picked it up. Honestly don't know if the game is good or not, but I'm just so into Tron that I'll add it to my very tiny collection of Tron games. I think I have every Tron game aside from the FPS Tron game.
Speaking of FPS, just when I think I finally have FPS fatigue something like this is on the horizon.

Sadly most FPS these days are either a variation of zombies or yet another case of Call of Edgelords.

Chinese developers with another banger in the chamber. I can't believe how many games they have coming out in the next few years that make the western mainstream look amateur.

A country of over a billion people, so it mainly needed an investment in people's skills and then projects that put these to good use.

I didn't know that EA made more games in that strike series. I've only played Desert Strike and Jungle Strike. I kind of checked out of Genesis games in 94 when I got a modern PC so I missed the others. Those were two of my favs growing up!

I used to rent Desert Strike endlessly when it first came out. Fortunately a spiritual successor to the Strike series is going to be out soon.

Yep.
Desert Strike, Jungle, Urban, Soviet and Nuclear Strike.
Last two being on the PS1, but we're more janky, with weird controls and more glitches than the first 3 games.
Jungle is still my favorite one, and I love the title screen music on the Genesis.

That looks cool! I've gotta get a new controller though. I had an old Xbox 360 controller and then my nephew "borrowed" it when he hooked his 360 back up recently. Once he uses a controller it's a goner.

Still here playing Red Dead 2....and by next week, 3 months now.
Trying to finish up the remaining challenges.
Never been big on gambling, but got the basic idea of Blackjack down....and for Gambler challenge 8....after getting your two cards from the dealer, draw 3 more cards, totalling five, and still win the game. The randomness of it is killing me. And, you have to do this three time total.
After an hour, I got this here....arrghhh. I hate this.

I did finally get it once....but a whole evening just for that once...and need two more times.
If they make a Red Dead 3, I sure hope there is no gambling challenges.

FINALLY....100%.
That was probably the longest game, with side stuff, I've ever played.
I was stuck at 99.7%. Said I was missing a robbery.
Ended up being a shop keeper that had someone in their basement, where you had to free the person.
I'd say it was more rescue than a robbery, but just glad that was the thing I needed.

Still have more trophies I can get. Maybe an easy one, and then time to move on.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am one of those people that doesn't game very often anymore.

BUT..... When I do, I will play the same game for like A YEAR. I don't have a current game on rotation, but I did it with RDR 1, did it with the Last of Us, Skyrim, did it with one of the Hitman franchise games as well. I like latching onto those games that, outside of the story, the gameplay and side-quests are developed enough to keep it entertaining for such a long time.

I do play quite a lot, but as ADHD as I am, I do stick with one and finish it before moving on.
I see people out there playing 6+ games at once, bouncing all over the place.
I can't even do that.

I had that with Metal Gear Solid 1 for PS1, Tenchu Stealth Assassins 1 for PS1.
I’ve even downsized it even more these days: Joint Operations-Advanced Warfare 2 for PC. That’s it. And I’m not talking about multiplayer or even single player, just creating stuff with the provided missions editor (and yes, then test it out in single player). Or creating Game Music Videos/Machinima with it.

My nephew does that. I have to play one game and finish it. Occasionally I will just play the main game and skip all or certain DLCs. If it's a series, I have to play the entire series (like Mass Effect). If it's different stories in a franchise, I can do one at a time, like the Fallout games.

I'm still a consistent gamer. I work shift work so with awkward sleep schedules, the toll of a lifetime of physical labor on my body and a heavily stymied social life, video games still remain one of my main outlets of entertainment. Their are a few games that I do become obsessed with, especially roguelites which allow for a different playthrough every time, same with strategy games and games like Tenchu and Hitman that offer multiple ways of playing. I was so addicted to the original Tenchu that I earned Grand Master rating on every level on all three level layouts. Darkest Dungeon is another one I come back to.
Also persistent universe sandbox games can really monopolize my gaming time. Like I'm a huge fan of Puroresu and sandbox games like Fire Pro which you can literally run for decades have consumed years of my life and there is another one due out later this year which really has my attention and could be a major time pit if it delivers.

I'm really bad for having multiple games on the go though. I'm still only halfway through Dragon Quest III although I will force myself through the rest of it before the Dragon Quest I+II bundle releases in October. I still have Eiyuden Chronicle and the Suikoden 1+2 remasters now with the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics remaster piled on that backlog. I'm now at the age where I realize there is a good chance I will have a backlog until my dying day.
