ROMULUS PULSE RIFLE, first test build.

All great to hear Flyscriber. Especially cool about doing decals. Maybe have the 04, 05, and then some other numbers where the builder could make their own for the gun AND mag? I don't know how tough they are to do. Or if there's any reference for what the other numbers look like (I think we've only seen 0, 1, 4, 5). If they cost a lot to do, maybe do a basic decal set and then a custom one with more numbers for a little extra?

Andrew Bradbury has even more photos on his site ( https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3EdWYm ). Reading his description over, I "think" the images of the 05 might be CG. They look like an actual prop to me. Maybe this guy is just REALLY good.

He says "Wētā Workshop created the practical props and did an amazing job of translating the digital model to a physical model" and "Thanks also to smagda64 on the RPF for the floor tile model which I used as a basis for my model." Those two statements are what makes me think that the images are actually renderings of a 3D model he created.

I'm also surprised there's no "Art of..." or some kind of similar photo book that came out for the movie. They usually do that for the Alien films. Maybe after the last 2 Ridley ones didn't do great, they didn't want to get stuck with a bunch of unsold books? If they do one now, after the movie is moderately successful, it would probably be rushed anyways. But I'm always on the look out for good and rare images. Maybe they'll have some prop goodness on the 4K/Blu Ray extras when the discs come out (looked for a release date yesterday but didn't see anything).

HI folks.
Yes, i guess a quick update is needed by now. I'm currently designing the rifle once again, working between the screenshots and the renders to weed out things which weren't in the movie. It's coming on now, although it will take a little longer than anticipated. Along with the Cad design, i am also doing the sound design for the rifle. I am working on things like this. Power up sound, Obviously the noise of the gun firing, empty mag sound, warning sound for mag low. Bleeps for the tracking screen blah blah. All of these should have multiple variants so you can choose your favourite from the menu. Also there is the possibility of having all the permutations controllable from a phone app for colour of muzzle flash, dwell etc, so you can see this is a very in depth project, and with endless possibilities im trying to get an audible feast going on this one. Please excuse my lack of updates on this thread, im hammering on a lot of projects and by the end of each day i just need to turn my head off.
So thats about it for the minute everyone. I hope this keeps the dream alive . More very soon.

I can't guarantee the conduit is accurate. In the post, you can see that I don't have a lot of good shots of it. But I'm guessing it's something similar and may differ by brand.

Also, note my other post that shows vents on the front of the mag well: if you're doing sound, that might be a good place for the speaker: Alien Romulus Pulse Rifle?

Hello again everyone.
Well its been a little while now, so i thought i would show you whats been happening on the Romulus rifle, but instead of writing about loads of tweaks, changes and thoughts, heres a video to show you where it's going.
There is still a fair way to go, plenty of details to finalise, testing everything and triple checking measurements, but i am very happy with the way this project is developing. I know there are more construction details to get into the design and im working through all the possibilities with this thing to get something special, so please bear with me.
Just to re-iterate..
I will not take any money from anyone until i am convinced i have a working and well executed kit. So please don't ask at this stage, i would love to take your money, but not until i am convinced i can honour my commitments to you.

So please check this video out, I am getting tantalisingly close to the first accurate build for the final signing off and then we are onto casting and ordering any outsourced parts, at which point i may need to ask for a deposit from anyone who would like one. Hi folks.
Well, there have been a lot of setbacks for me personally this last year. Not to bang on about stuff, but hospitals and a lot of worry have slowed things down, plus parts especially for the sound system have been, lets say, lost in the post, and my compadre has dropped out of the project !!!. But i am glad to say, i now have a working sound system with lights, and i am cracking on with the main design. it has taken a bit of a leap in parts numbers, with machined barrels and other tricky bits to cram into the space available. I am currently re-designing the model around the new internals. I will warn you now, Its not going to be quick, but i am confident it will be pretty darn cool once completed. Stick with me, if you can, there will be more updates now that the personal health issues in the family seem to be calming down. So please don't despair, i am back on the job, in between a lot of other jobs LOL, how i'm going to juggle it all will be seen in time. Sorry for the lack of comms once again 2024 has been a really sketchy time for us and especially my amazing wife. Heres to a much better and constructive 2025. I hope you all have a wonderful new years celebrations, and i will report back as soon as i can in 2025.

I am sure we are ALL glad to hear from you. As well as happy for you that health issues have been handled as best as possible. Sorry to hear you compadre left the project. It's always better when you have a few folks working on projects with you help carry the load. Glad to hear you will still continue the project as best as you possibly can. We can understand that the price may go up on this run. You have no control over the prices on materials that are needed. All you can do is shop around for quality parts at an affordable price. Again as best you can. Be safe and we all look forward to hearing about progress when you have something to share. Hats off to an amazing wife I am sure she has your back no matter what. Thank you for the update. As a fellow seller, if I may offer some advice, it's that communication is by far the most important aspect of this relationship. I make a point of communicating any time there's any kind of development, even bad news.

RPF folks are known for being incredibly patient, to the point of years even, but only if the communication lines remain open and constant!

Don't commit to anything that isn't a slam-dunk, take as much time as you need, but please keep talking!

Glad things are improving but yours and your family's well being have to be your number one priority so don't worry about timescales for this. These things are "nice to have" but they are just things and it won't hurt anyone here if they take some time to come together or never do! Have a great New Year and a better 2025!!

Regarding the Rifle... I won't be needing all the bells and whistles (i.e., lights and sounds). Any plans on offering a kit without them? I'm sure that's going to be a large part of the price. Just a thought.
