REF PICS OF THE AT-AT

It's been a while, how's everybody doing with their kits!? Personally I've been working hard on the feets and legs. They sure took more time then I had expected, should be able to have new pics up in a week.

What's the status on the rest of you "northern kit" builders"!?

OK, here's a few pics of my finished uper legs. I added all the correct screws and shaved off the incorrect back panels and added new ones. I hope you like it.

Absolutely fantastic! That weathering job is really a beautiful work. That snow effect is terrific!

I know it's a little bit late, but did ever you think of replacing the pistons for moving ones? Depending of the leg position, they went up and down in the film.

Sergio

Thanks!

Yes I was thinking about removing them and build new ones in different positions. However, there's just so much that needs to be fixed on this kit to get it accurate so figured I would leave them in fixed positions and use the energy on something else. In the end there's nothing inaccurate about them it's just that they are fixed.

I really wish I could pay attention to every singel detail, but then it will just take forever to finish this project.

EDIT: Here's a link to site I've set up which contains all my progress pics, why don't you check it out!

Steve,

I know excatly what do you mean. I have spent sometimes 3 months superdetailing 1/72 scale spaceships, so I can image how is to redetail such a massive thing. Some thing have to be left on the way, otherwise it will be a 3 years project.

I'm sure you know I never suggested unaccuracy, just a little detail that makes it more movie-like.

Please keep the work and share those pics with us!

Congratulations again.

Sergio

Thanks again!

I agree, it would be awesome to have all the moving parts working, sadly it's something that I never will have the time or energy for. However, there's more members then me building this kit, who knows what they might do! Echoleader have you been able to put down anymore work on your kit? It would be great to see some pics!

I'm curious about something, and it may bring up sore memories, or it may be incredibly cool. This pertains to the 18" Walker, and it's undoubtedly an accurate version I speak of.

See, thing is, one of them (a real one) is out in the general public. Has been for over 20 years... but is it still extant?

Dateline 1980. Bantha Tracks and the OSWFC award one lucky contest winner one (1) 18" tall built at ILM, scaled and detailed like the film versions, Imperial AT-AT. All you had to do was be the heaviest recruiter for the Fan Club at the time...

Anyone know where she may be? 'cuz if so...

:)

Steve, your work is awe inspiring! I hope mine turns out half as good as yours, BRAVO!

Now for some discovery news, at least for me, not sure if anyone else has mentioned this part. Remember the belly button????

Does this look like it could be it?

If so, it's in the 1/72 Hasegawa Morser Karl. Now I have to find the part that it sits on.

Rolando

Thanks Rolando! That means a lot to me.

Sadly I don't think it's the correct part, if it is they must have reworked it pretty hard.

Check out this picture.

To me it looks like the cylinder and the grill is the same part.

The part you are looking for i thought is from the Tamiya 1/700 Nelson British Battle ship. see pic ok after further review its not exact but close so I suggest going thorugh all the Tamiya Battleship kits and find the right one.. Its not the Nelson..Prince of whales..Shinano or Yamato. (I looked)

BINGO!! Amazing what a clear picture will bring out! Thanks guys, I have that kit and part. I also see the backside seat to a Tamiya 1/35 20mm Flakvierling38 on the edge of the part that it sits on.

Now to find what this sits on.

Rolando

PS- If either Steve can e-mail me that complete pic above (I have it but as you can see, it sucks) I may be able to find more part identifications. Thanks in advance.

Yeah Sweede! Quit bogarting the ATAT reference pictures! Ahhh just messing with ya.. seriously Rolandos right if we could see better Im sure we could ID this thing 100%

What do ya say?? Can you send us some pics?

Steve

Hey all!!

Just about to get my kit as well and was wondering how everyone elses was coming along????

How long did it take you to build... or more to the point how long WOULD it have taken do you think if you hadn't done all of the modifications you did?

Any and all pics you could send my way would be great as well... I got pics of the kit finished from our Northern friend, but none of them show it next to anyone, which would be nice to give a feeling of scale. Yeah I know it's dimensions, but seeing one up next to someone would be nice...

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Steve,

I've been following the progress of your AT-AT with great anticipation - how's it going?

Things are going well, but all the upgrades takes A LOT of time to do. However, I should have pics up in a week or two of the finnished upper and lower legs plus the feets. A lot of work went into those parts.

Steve.

In a way, I feel rather ashamed to be posting here. I bought an absolutely amazing custom kit from a most amazingly talented Canadian boardmember, instead of kitbashing it myself. I need some pics as a painting reference, can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Wow - the snow is great! How are you doing it? Clearly it's more than just paint.
