MR Falcon Print Materials and Display

What kind of framing did you use for the Falcon scans? I like the setup you have! Also, those cases look great =)

It is a frame that I got at Michaels. It's the kind that you take apart by removing the outer frame pieces (they slide on to hold the plexi and backing together). It comes with a wall hanger. It does look great, doesn't it? But, that's mostly due to the fantastic quality of the scans! They are high resolution, so there is no blur at all. I just had to even out the tones in the black background using PhotoShop, then printed them on glossy photo paper.

Thanks! My room is looking like a sci-fi museum! Now that I can make my own cases... the potential!

I don't really know. I've never seen the real thing, but from what I understand I think it is a fold out.

Yes its fold out. Its 4 pages. It is like the snowspeeder. Your case looks superb. I was going to do one myself b but i can get one fairly cheap from a company near me.

I just wanted to drop a note that the company I posted the link for porcessed my order and delivered it in a timely manner. I know have the glue etc. now I just need to pick up some acrylic from home depot and a cutter - then we'll have some case creatin' fun...

Thanks Ringa!

Or like a folder with double gate folds.

Got a buddy who works in printing hoping to have him print it out on some good paper.

I did print the COA on a shhet of phot gloss papaer. looks perfect.

Thanks again for the scans.

Good luck! Post some pics when finished!

Went and priced Acrylic ar home Depot - Shocked at the cost for sheets of 1/4 acrylic is the best I can describe it... I gotta save a week or two for a couple of sheets. I also gotta do som0m comparison shopping. At those prices somebody has GOT to have it cheaper...

I'll definitely post some pics as I build the case... when I can afford the materials :rolleyes

How much ARE sheets going for at Home Depot these days?

Just to let you guys know. I've had a trip to Home Depot here in Canada. The only 1/4" sheet they had were 24" x 48" @ 72$ .. so that won't work with the 25 13/16" x 35 7/16" x 16" for my Falcon.

But, Reno Depot, another hardware store here, had a

30" x 36" @ 40$
24" x 48" @ 68$

Plus, this stores cut as precise as 1/32" for 1$ each cut.

I'm not sure yet how I can combine the different sheet size, I'll try to get all their available format first, then pick the cheapest option to maximize the waste!

Thanks for the great tutorial ringa!

Quick question. After scoring and snapping the plexi, did you find a need to polish/sand the cut edges that were going to be exposed and not glued?

I did not see the need to. If you make a clean cut (or break), then it will require little to no sanding. Plus, when the cement joins the pieces the edges actually look better.
