First look at AvP 2 !!!

funny thing is bro, no one calls me a geek to my face, except my wife...it must be my 7' spear or the 18" blades i walk around with

I acouple of my friends I work with tell me I have an odd Hobby. But then again they like my stuff and they want acouple of things from my collection. :)

i love this hobby! I have other hobbies as well, but this one's fun.And yes...nobody calls
me geek either, unless they wanna get put to sleep.lol!

you are right Badblood it was wayland sorry my mistake there, but it is wayland they use for the bishop model, and the guy in alien III looks loke wayland 100 % but he is not an android but if it is wayland, you are right he would be pretty old by that time...........hmm the only way that could work is that the guy in alien III is a realitive to wayland and looks like him.

he is human and not an andriod i all cases, but i can only say that you are right, alien III is happening a lots of years after AVP and wayland should be dead there by natureal causes or else he is pretty old there.

He must be a clone, wayland probably saved some tissue samples when he knew he was dying. The company certanly had the cloning down to an art by Aliens 4.

yep i think that you are right Sandman 1, good thinking.

Well maby im a nerd and so what, to hell what ewerybody says, i love to dress up as a bad ass Predator, Imperial Stormtrooper, what ewer.

i love the kick when children come and whant their foto taken with me, i love to se their happy faces when they are photografed with an Imperial stormtrooper or what costume i wear that day, its make it all worth it.

im building a Jason Voorheed costume rignt now too from Friday the 13TH part VII The new Blood

and again yes i am a movie nerd and you know what guys....i love it 100 % :)

i think that is so cool that you guys in here is dressing like a predator ewen when you are grown up, you are not old before you selv feels like it so keep rocking and live your life, you probertly only live once right.

Well sorry to go off topic :)

after my appinion i guess i must agree to ditch the AVP II and use all the streangth to make a really cool Predator part III

My Girlfriend calls me Predator nerd and you dudes are my nerdy predator friends :) But calling me and us predator nerds is not an insult, It´s an honour!

personally speaking,i love AVP.i reckon mr.anderson did a great job,and the team at ADI did an awesome job too
(in only 5 months......)the book :alien vs predator, the creature effects of adi......explains all of the fan-boy woes many fans have with AVP.the longer dreads were added,to make combat seem more brutal (in an artistic way ie:longer dreads will look faster, more brutal when engaged in combat) also, the bigger armor makes sense as the preds are in fact expecting to battle aliens, and better armor seems like a good idea yea ?........also,the facial features of the predators (when unmasked) are supposed to look more
"human".....as the lead predator is to become a "hero" figure at the conclusion of the film, rather than simply a killer type character.
the need to have humans in the story, means the need to make the lead pred a lil more "likeable"
......i dont think im explaining it well.......its a story thing.
checkout the adi book,.....the book is excellent, and makes sense of some of the fan-boy questions.
im already making plans to go to the screenings of AVP2 locally,(in full costume).......and im stoked that the new film will mean new toys, modelkits, new comics & novels,......new "making of" mags & books...........new costumes to collect........lol !!!!
"bring it on" i reckon !!!!!
i think we should be supporting the artists who are making AVP2 (rather than dissing details of a single pic shown in this thread)
im confident the bro's will do a great job,......hell,they may even do an excellent job............

im looking forward intently to seeing the next installment...........

Well, I agree that there has been a tremendous effort to redesign the creatures, it's just that it didn't work out well. We, fans, like to see Predators, and not footballplayers in armor with dreads. When it's not broken, don't try to fix it. Just go from there: what worked on previous gigs and what didn't. That's the way it should go.

Alright, so I've kept my gob shut long enough.

I've read a few of you talking about how AVP was super fantastic because it introduced new weapons and "props." Well whoopidy ******* ****. With all of the talent and imagination on this board and the last, the whole "big-screen validation" thing doesn't fly. You want something new and cool, make it. Don't wait for Hollywood.

AVP wasn't cool. The only thing that AVP did was ruin, cartoon, and insult (me as a viewer for one) the Predator character. The Alien character got off light. "Well the Predators armor was cool, and the Celtic helmet was awesome!!" Well, hey, **** that. I am more concerned about the character itself, underneath all that armor, rather than what cool piece I want to add to my collection next. While it's been well established they are hunters that use technology as a weapon and amusement- a super-duper ninja star doesn't make up for the fact that the image of the Predator was all but ruined. Features to make him seem more human. Longer dredlocks to make him seem more romantic and heroic. A stocky, more comic book physique. Translated onto screen that would be - clumsy, oafish appearance incapable of the movement seen in previous films.

Let me stop here and just ask... how many of you have actually watched Predator and Predator 2?
Yeah I know a lot of you don't like Predator 2, but the changes to the character back then are nothing compared to the AVP changes. Paul Anderson tried to reinvent them as comic book characters. And he ******* sucks for doing so.

Anyway, onto the picture.

Right off the bat... the Alien. Someone should get ahold of Toho Studios in Japan, because one of their "Kaiju" has gotten away from them. Seriously... that thing looks like it'd be best suited fighting Godzilla or Gamera. H.R. Giger's gonna have a hard time eating his corn-flakes in the morning thanks to the enormous dump that someone left in there.

The Predator... eh, well the first thing that jumped out at me was the fact that his helmet is even smaller than Scars. (Thanks Jason for the kind words earlier) I made a heap of **** about it before. It's no longer a helmet... it's a mask that's been placed there for association. His dredlocks are shorter, that's cool. I guess. He's got spikey things on his helmet, too. That makes up for AVP. Yup.

Alright, the "crane" cannon arm worked in AVP, and so did the super-colosal cannons. I didn't like them then, and I don't like them now. They look stupid and too awkward. That is not the tool of a skilled hunter. Watch "Predator" if you haven't already. That's about the biggest I'd go for cannon and arm size. It doesn't take away from the character like those extendo-matic, giganto-cannons do. Unnecessary.

some good points been made here!!

i definatley agree that AVP ruined the preds reputation as a hunter-it makes them seem clumsy an unskilled (an yeah i know that they were supposedly 'teenage preds' but thats besides the point) if you dont agree with me just watch AVP again and see that 'chopper pred' dies in a few seconds of an alien being anywhere near him, then celtic has a good fight with one buts still beaten by one- all you have to do is watch the 2nd disc of the special edition dvd of AVP an listen to how Anderson talks about the aliens, he even refers to one as the 'hero' alien!! (is it me or should there never be a hero alien)
he also diss's just about everything to do with the previous preds an how they were disigned/made - which when i watched it really pi55ed me off!!!! stan winston is a genius an the previous preds were works of art!

to be honest i quite like the 'heavy' armour look an celtic and choppers masks are quality!

it feels like ive run on abit there but its something ive wanted to post!

(i also want to post that i would have liked AVP ALOT more if chopper pred actually got to fight that alien - then maybe lost after a fight like celtics.
then IMO celtic should have killed that alien, then got bundled by quite aload of aliens in that pit (where he was killed in the film) then tried to take out a few more aliens but be killed trying)

I deem the Predators in AVP just too human in terms of concept, it was like a semi-stripped knight that hunts.

AVP2 seems to be more on track, but I'm still very sceptical about this.

Strause on Alien in AVP2 Movie Photo

Thursday, January 18, 2007

After complaints about the quality of the Alien suit in the AVP2 movie photo, director Colin Strause came in and put his foot down. He says the Alien you're seeing is not the final product.

"[It is] a production photo and not a shot from the actual movie," Strause said on the Internet Movie Database forums, "so you were not seeing how the Alien will really look."

No doubt; we should reserve our judgement until we see the final thing.

Strauses on AVP2 Movie Runtime, Focus

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

How long will the AVP2 movie be? No idea, says director Greg Strause. There's still stuff that needs to be done.

"We won't know the run time for quite a while," Greg says. "Editing is under way and we have months of work to do. We are huge fans of the original scores. I repeat...we're going back to the roots."

Man, that sounds awesome. You've turned me into a believer, Strause! Roots. We like that.

So, which roots? Which of the two franchises' fans will be happier? Brother-director Colin Strause responded to a Planet AVP forumer's question on that very subject.

"Don't worry. Predator fans will be very happy," Colin Strause said to Dark Nemisis.

Short, but sweet.

Strause Comments on AVP2 Movie Photo [Updated]

Monday, January 15, 2007

On the Internet Movie Databse forums, AVP2 movie director Colin Strause has commented on the new AVP2 movie photo. He says lighting problems, which can make things look fake, can be easily explained.

"On-set photos are never taken from the correct lighting angle, because they are working around our motion picture camera," Colin Strause said, "so this will make the photos not look as good as the final movie. They are too front-lit, too bright, and might be missing all of the slime on the creatures, because the photos are usually taken in-between takes."

Man, the photo already looks good. Finished product's even better? Thanks for the heads-up, Colin!

Update: And Greg Strause made a small comment on the Predator 'laser' in the photo.

"The laser was filmed 'in-camera'. We had real working lasers," Greg says.

Just a small comment...

So if the Alien is not the final product we're seeing, then the Predator is also not the final product as well. So hopefuly the Predator went under some changes to. So hopefuly Maybe they had some time to do some corrections on both Aliens.
