Beginner's Grail Diary (Printable Pages + Inserts)

Hey, does anyone know whats missing from the big white bit on the grey letter insert I have? I've looked and haven't had any luck.
That appears to be the available information we have on that insert, based on screen shots etc. There are other "versions" that make up a complete letter but it really comes down to how do you want your insert to be. As close to the original or similar??? Personally I went for similar :)

Oh cool, I just didn't know if it had another insert to be added to it. Now I know I'll add it to the print document

The majority of the letter is on the back side of the page, the original prop in passage to India is folded up for the illusion of being full. hope this helps!

My two cents.
I will try to remove original stamping, so it can be used as prop.

What are those stamps used for, I remember it's related to diary, but I don't remember how!

I have question about reference picture for grail diary enveloppe.
In the movie I only saw small picture of it, so is there any archive picture showing it, to get idea about the design and 3 stamps?
I am asking because original era venezia ink stamps were different, so if there is no concensus or real archive picture of original, I will probably make a more historically accurate stamp, and add a potential date on it.

the grail diary wrapper uses brown craft paper as is sold in the UK. You will need to make a custom rubber stamp for the 'veniza' stamp I think. I have collected the following items related to the wrapper. It's not as easy to make as it looks.

The telegram prop was apparently first used in the movie passage to india I have read on COW and you get a better view of it in that movie. Most of the versions of the telegram you see around were based on the glimpses in passage and last crusade combined with historical examples of the real thing.

thanks, so the both pictures of the wrapping are from lucasfilm?
So the venizia stamp is not historically accurate , got it, also the stamps look like replicas, but the label rim and stamps are same color, that's interesting, as I have real stamps for color reference?

About that film, it's strange to use props from one movie to another, it seems also arabic letter comes from that movie, is there a reason why, were producers friends or maybe the same?!

They probably just pulled them out of a document box the prop makers had available. Putting anything into the book to make it look used and old.
The attached photo shows the Lucasfilm photo of the wrapper as seen in The Star Wars Archives by Mark Cotta Vaz and Shinji Hata (1995) on page 174. This is a book you should get if you are interested in Indy props.

As you can see from this photo the stamps used in the movie were only prints and not original stamps.

Thanks,
I remember someone in this thread did hand typing, letters and labels, maybe it should be great to offer hand typed labels, typed on a machine, same for letters, or maybe I can try to find an old machine, the main issue is there are many different types, and size, and it may be impossible to find the right type to make accurate letters.
I don't have any printer too, I will try to rework the back of the telegram and maybe someone should be able to print one copy for me?Maybe it would even be interesting to cooperate on such projects, I can do image resolution and quality improvement, also working on a physical venizia stamp, some members could do printing, paper selection, and or hand typing, and we could make a bunch of sets, shipped by post?!

This is a common occurrence with movie studios and a lot of props. Why make something and only use it once when you can just keep it around and use it multiple times and save money? Look up a quick google search of the starship trooper armor or Morley brand cigarettes

So, are you trying to make an “accurate era” diary how “should be” made, with accurate era seals, camel cigarette pack, telegrams, stamps, from 20s and 30s, etc or an accurate replica like the one used in the movie? Because if you are trying to making an accurate replica like the movie, nobody knows better than Holt, and he is already doing the most possible accurate movie diary.

The idea would be about historical accuracy, not movie accuracy.

here is final telegram file, front and back, I modified color and added some irregularities to the front, and cleaned the back as much as possible.

What do you think about it?

This is 3D model I just made, if you think it's good, I can create a shapeways product, so anyone who needs the stamp can just order and get printed on shapeways.
The only thing I need to check is full size, I have original stamps, so I will be able to make the exact same size.
If needed, I can create other design, to make a global shapeways printing item, including as many stamps as needed all in one single item and order, this will reduce the cost.

That would be fantastic if you could do that. I've looked for something like this on etsy to no avail. I've been thinking I would need to get a custom rubber stamp ordered at my local print shop and have to try to explain it all.
Are you thinking of making one the clear stamps you put onto blocks yourself? and the postage stamps too? and is making the label an option ... like a wrapper kit?
