Alien / Nostromo Uniforms

I have been reading this thread with great interest. Loved the movie and loved the general look of it.

But what really convinced me was when I started reading about the Dallas jacket here. It always kind of reminded me of something. And then I remembered a jacket that I had bought at a flea market back in '98 or '99...

At the time I had mistaken it for an American jacket, as somebody had sewn several American patches on it. Never could quite bring myself to throw it away though. And now it seems it will be getting a new purpose! :)

Great looking jacket! Flat pen holders tell me it is an older version which is GREAT! Good luck on your project, that is a great start! :)

Does anyone have good template for making the crew trousers/shirt? Looking for something with dimension/positioning of pockets and knee pads etc

Thanks for your time!

I believe someone posted templates of the pieces, but not placement. But you can do so according to your eye with screen caps.

Great job on your jacket. The yellow lettering looks good on it. Purists might fault, but the bottom line is, you weren't on the ill fated cruise. You were there before.. I like it!!

Sorry, it's probably been said a lot already, but how would one go about the compression lacing panels? I get the paracord part, but what keeps that "in place?"

Hi all, been a while since I visited this thread but I had a little epiphany I thought I'd share.

I was at an event recently where a couple of representatives for St John's Ambulance (volunteer first aid folks) were in attendance. Their uniform shirts were strikingly similar to those that we know and love from the Nostromo crew, so I had a quick search when I got back, and sure enough:

My theory is that John Mollo liked the design and repurposed it, having the costumers remake them in the linen fabric and adding the snaps, patches and trim. I imagine a vintage ambulance uniform shirt from the 1970s would be even closer in cut and design, but the similarity is striking even in its current incarnation.

If you look at ambulance trousers elsewhere on that site, there are certainly parallels to the Nostromo kit there too, though in that case they aren't (currently) made in white fabric at all - possibly a product of the time, possibly another Mollo innovation.

In any case, they make for a good-looking (and affordable) base shirt, though I can imagine some may like to go as far as dismantling and remaking in the proper fabric. Must admit, I'm pretty tempted to take my own shirt to a mark II now...

Patch Ripley.JPG
1st time I see this one ...

The simpler version of the wings motif. Ripley has one, Lambert has one, and Dallas has one on his medical smock. It may be the same design as a patch on the 'hypersleep undies' as well, just with a red cloth substrate. Also, it's shown in the design portfolio.

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. Can anyone point me in the right direction to locate the white plastic pieces on Kane's belt buckle? Or has anyone fabricated the whole buckle for cosplay use? Thank you.

Someone a few pages back made those pieces.
