Alien / Nostromo Uniforms

Johnhenryc: excellent costume! The overall impression is really great. Seeing the amount of work you went through shows some true dedication too. Well done and ave a blast at DragonCon.

Just managed to find a grey mk3 jacket in my size - 6.
Looks like I'm now going for as screen acurate as possible now, which might mean the daunting task of making my own silver bullion wings.

There is a grey mk3 currently on ebay UK size 8 if anyone is looking for one by the way.

For "grey" do you mean "sage green"?
Vintage grey ones like those in Alien have black buttons

It's the proper screen acurate grayish blue one. Black buttons, silver zips. From 1960's. Got mine for £70ish. The one ebay is £60 at the moment and has basic lacing and (wrong) patches added.

Just got done with my Kane jacket and a hint of what's next for Alien series jackets...

Really nice. Love the weathering on the cuff etc. (did you weather it?). Only recommendation is that the Egyptian wings look a bit cheap from this angle. Certainly badges look a bit too shiny for current garment. Piping good. Excellent work.

Nah, they just look too shiny at that lighting level. Weathering compliments of an overheated iron. (done on purpose)

another shot

Overheated iron did the job really nicely.
Front view badge now looks natural.
Pat on the back Flexserve. No other recommendations. Have one of these...

@Flexserve wings are Merliner right? I have the same. Wish he still offered them.
Yup these are Jeff's! I wish he still offered them too!!! They are the BEST patches you can get! (Merliner wings and shoulder patches)

Thanks bro!

Hi guys. I've been lurking on this thread for a while. I'm just starting to get things collected but I thought I'd show you my progress mainly on the belt buckle.

I decided to model and 3D print it (my local library has a maker space). I need to resize the base of the buckle since I belive it is just a bit too large but otherwise I think it's coming along just fine.

I'm starting in on a non-canon Nostromo jacket based on a Canadian tank crew jacket:
img59970010.jpg
It's a similar length, but a little more tailored/slim-fit (I always felt that the accurate Mk3 jackets had a somewhat unflattering cut, making them "billow" around the waist) - plus I couldn't resist that offset zipper! I'm planning to add quilted/ribbed portions to the arms and shoulders, Brett style...maybe I'll add the lacing as well, if I'm feeling ambitious.

Does anybody have a spare set of Merliner wings or Merliner/Mechanic arm patches? I've got what I believe are the most accurate mass-produced publicly-available arm patches, but I know that they're still slightly off on some details that were perfected by those guys. And of course no wings can compare to Merliner's.

Also, is there a current source for the Nostromo stencil? The shop I had bookmarked long ago is no longer working.

I've been off the radar for a while. I will post up my jacket results so far in the next few days.

My stencil turned out great! That had me most worried.

That jacket is killer! I can't resist an offset zipper either :)
