Y-Wing Parts Map for the "Green Leader" Project - open source

Re: Y-Wing Parts Map for the "Green Leader" Project

From memory it's 1/600 Nelson.
It is Nakajima.

Thanks! One is a correction and one was a spelling mistake of mine, oops!

And thanks to everyone for clearing that piece up. I see its shape now. And good to know I don't have to keep looking for a La Seine part on the Y.

Update: I fixed my spelling mistake and kit scale mistake back in the post with the image.

Re: Y-Wing Parts Map for the "Green Leader" Project

I'm throwing this question out there because I have not seen it on any of the threads. This may because it is so obvious, so forgive my ignorance in advance. Are the engine nozzles that go into the back of the main engines from a known kit or were they scratch built? It looks like the lunar module container on the Saturn V can make a nozzle similar to the one used, but wanted to hear from the experts here. Thanks

I'm no expert but I agree with you. I believe it's the container (trimmed) plus the ring that sits below it.

I think the part behind the command module is used too.

The pattern of the plating seems to match pretty close also. The top would obviously need to be cut off along the seam line, but would it be too crazy to think that they simply took the cut piece of the cone, turned it around, and stuck it back in along with the heat sink? It would take some trimming.

Re: Y-Wing Parts Map for the "Green Leader" Project

Here is a shot from my 3D model using the LEM Shroud from the Airfix Saturn V and a section of 7/8" Plastruct/EMA tubing to house the heat sink. I think this is more likely what what done. In the photo of the Ladd model you can see that the tube thickness more closely matches the thickness of the Plastruct tubing, The wall thickness on the kits parts (LEM shroud, Service Module, etc.) is a good bit thinner than whats seen in the photo.

NOTE - This is an older, incorrect version of my 3D model, before the correct cut to the Saturn cone was pointed out to me. I leave it here for the historical (hysterical?) record!

Using the LEM shroud only doesn't yield the score line around the circumference unless its from a different tooling.

Dave, this part is trimmed at the top so it may have thrown off your measurements in this area.

Edit- Just clarifying, I see in your render the complete part untrimmed.

I agree. Using the bottom ring gives you the correct score line around the circumference and panel pattern when looking at the Ladd Y as long as you trim the top of the shroud. I think if you used just the LEM shroud only it would yield a cone that was not large enough and would not fit the heat sink as we see it in the reference.

Re: Y-Wing Parts Map for the "Green Leader" Project

Sorry for not posting and or updating the first post. I have a lot going on at the moment. Just keep up the great work.

Looking for a hint on this part. Other than the obvious, I believe it to be 1/72, 1/76 scale and either a P-47, or a MiG.

Thanks
